Another Mint Question

I'm having trouble getting my savings to show up correctly on Mint. If I make a category in my budget it marks it as an expense which throws off my net in vs. out. I can't make a new goal unless I open a new savings account which I don't really want to do. Any of you Mint experts have any tips? I don't want to just exclude transfers to the savings account because then I can't see the savings...I don't know, I feel like this should be easier than I'm making it.

You are kind of hard to follow, but what I'm thinking you are saying is that you are moving money into a savings account that isn't connected to Mint, and therefore, right now the money you put into that account shows up as an expense.
If you don't want to add the savings account, I guess the next best thing to do is just use the "Exclude from Mint" category for money you put into that savings account.
It appears you could also indirectly track that amount by doing a search of your transactions on that category and get a total amount excluded from Mint.

The savings account is linked to Mint. My problem is when I transfer money from checking to savings it is categorized as transfer and does not show up in any of the charting. I want to make saving part of my budget but not have it show up as an expense.
I tried doing this with the goals option but you can only have one goal per savings account and I don't want to open multiple accounts.

Try using the overall "Transfer" category. That shouldn't catalog it as an expense.
Just wondering, why the resistance to opening up a new one? Your bank make that a pain in the arse or something?

I travel quite a bit for work so a lot of time I end up using my credit card for expenses on the trip which get reimbursed later. And I use the same card that I always do, so my personal expenses and work expenses are mixed together. Does Mint handle reimbursements well?
I am thinking unless I use a different credit card for travel, I will end up doing a lot of these expense classifications/categorizing manually. Not to mention the handling the reiubursement itself, when I get the check where I will have to classify it as not income or something

I have a similar situation but my work expenses are small, under $100 a month.
As of now, all I do is categorize the expense as normal and then use the Income: Reimbursement category for the check my company sends me, but this doesn't do what you really want to do.
I would think the best way to not have any of this count towards your personal accounts would be to just exclude all the transactions on both ends (expenses and incomes) unless you can make a Custom Category that doesn't count towards anything, but I haven't played with that option.
After fiddling with it, the only category that doesn't seem to count towards expenses and your budgeting besides Excluding is the "Transfer" category, so maybe making a category in there and just counting all these as transfers may work.

Well, you seem to have a myriad of problems, all of which could be solved by opening up extra accounts.
However, if you would like to see the "savings transfers", just go to search transactions and search for transfers.
As far as putting it in your budget, just choose "select account later". It will be added in.

By the way Flask, you might recall that I was adding one to my already existing USAA account and Mint wasn't picking it up.
Seems what worked for me and many others is to add the USAA(or any bank you are using) account again, creating a duplicate. Everything pretty much copies over pretty seamlessly, keeping all the historical info, then delete the old USAA. There was a few days of duplicate transactions from those that were pending at the time I did this, but it has been running well now for over a week.
Just thought you might like to know.

Thanks for the info man.
Unfortunately, I jumped the gun and deleted the other one after a day or two.
