Hello Tiger fans!

It was 100% pleasure having you guys up here in 2009. Classy people to say the least! I actually came down to NOLA for the Seahawks game that Thanksgiving to get a taste of the culture and boy howdy did it deliver.

I'm very excited to have just booked the trip down to NOLA for the Dawgs game in September. Sine it's obviously not a short walk from our hotel in NOLA up to Baton Rouge... I was curious if there were any busses that left that we could catch?

I've really respected the southern hospitality and have been told this holds true in Baton Rouge also, so should we just go to the tailgate section (where is it?) should we stick around up north after the game or head back to NOLA?

I'm just trying to get some of the local perspective for things that could enhance the trip.

Cheers my friends... Mighty are the men who wear the Purple and the Gold!

Yeah, check Hotard, Calco, etc... Get an early one if you're coming Saturday though. Don't want to miss anything.

ETA: If you really want to do it up, get a few friends together to pitch in for a party bus. You'll have an hour and a half to liquor up good before you even step foot into Baton Rouge. I've done this from Tampa to Gainesville and it's worth the price.

You got that right.

Literally the whole campus.

For visiting fans I suggest this for the full experience.

Tailgate Section LOL

Welcome! You'll have a blast. Campus is your tailgate section. No place like it in all of college football.

You can't miss it, it is campus and the surrounding areas. Anywhere you want to be constitutes a tailgate area.

Hope you enjoy the trip

Can't wait! UW has always been a school that I liked and respected. You all have a good thing going on up there. It should be a really fun game with all the talent you have at QB vs our secondary. Try to enjoy yourself every time you come to NOLA/BR and don't have to many hand grenades(a drink in case you didn't know).

Not hard to find the tailgaiting. Just walk around and the Tiger fans will treat you well. All the food and drink you want. Just don't be a puss and take offense to the "tiger bait" chants.

If you have a good personality and can take the friendly banter you will have a blast.

The Tailgate is normally about a miles radius around tiger stadium. You could miss it If you were blind. I'm assuming we have a night game, and if so, get to campus early. The party starts well before noon.

Just step foot on campus, and you'll see it...It's everywhere. Literally the entire campus. (and tailgates aren't in parking lots like you might be accustomed to...tailgates are all over, typically under oaks and on grass and usually multiple large tents set up at each tailgate)

Things to make sure and catch:

-band coming down victory hill (around 5pm)
-Mike the Tigers habitat (right next to victory hill)
-I'd recommend getting on campus at NOON at the latest, if not earlier. We get on campus around 7am for a 7pm kickoff.
-Also make sure to be in your seat at least 30 minutes prior to kickoff...you don't want to miss Pregame...it's an "event"
-Eating/partying close to campus: Chimes and Serranos
-It will be a night game...you won't get off campus til after midnight probably

Also, if you gamble, L'Auberge Casino & Hotel is
Opening Summer 2012. It should be pretty cool.

Even if you were blind and deaf, you would still be able to feel the energy. You can cut it with a knife... that and the humidity.

There is this wonderfully strange relationship with Washington and LSU fans. Its like we are all old friends.. probably bc we love Mark Emmert. I know that all of our fans that went up there for the 09 game said WONDERFUL things about Husky fans.

We've been waiting for you guys to come down so we can show YOU a great time. There was also an article submitted to our local papers from a UW fan praising the LSU fans and how much money they spent, how much fun they were, etc. That went a long way with the Tiger community.

For transportation, take the LA Swift if it runs on Saturday. $5/trip. I would recommend staying in BR if possible. Traffic can get nasty.

Rent a car. It's not meaningfully more expensive--if at all--and will give you lots more freedom to move around.

Tailgate venue = LSU campus. But the lots west and south of the Stadium, the parade ground in the center of campus, and (if you're a frat type) the house of your fraternity, are prime party spots.
quote:

should we stick around up north after the game or head back to NOLA?

Depends a little bit on the game time. If an afternoon game, there will be tailgating afterward in most spots. If a night game, head back to New Orleans.

Get to Baton Rouge as early on Saturday as you can (if you're not spending the night there Friday night). Show up 1 hour before the game and you will (i) miss the prime party time, (ii)miss some of the traditional hoopla (like the band's march to the stadium), and (iii) end up parking in Gonzales.

I was in UW for the game 3 years ago and it was a great experience--one of the prettiest venues in all of college football, and very hospitable fans (though it was before school started, so the campus had a decidedly different atmosphere, the band was in civvies, etc.). Hopefully you will have a comparable (or better!) experience at LSU.

Oh, and if some LSU fans with a keg of beer and a big pot of gumbo or jambalaya yell "Tiger Bait!" at you, smile, sport your UW gear, and give them a big "WOOF!WOOF!WOOF". You'll get offered drinks, food and great Louisiana hospitality.

The only thing not to do is try and compare your conference with the SEC, that is sure to piss ppl off and it's an argument you won't win with a Tiger fan. Talk trash about LSU all day long, you are playing us, just don't try and talk down the SEC, and don't get offended when the people who have been feeding you and pouring booze down your throat start tigerbating the crap out of you, and you'll have a great time
