He has brought in more than his proposed contract. Its sad the saints have reverted back to its old ways.
Have you taken the trouble to actually analyze the details of this issue? Are you aware of the salary cap issues for the 2012 season and what the effect of Brees' money will have on the Saints' roster? Are you thinking about anything at all beyond "Brees is great. Pay him the money"?

23 million = 20% of the money to be used for a 53 man roster. Can't blast the FO for standing their ground on this one. Kinda disappoInted in Brees on this.

Everyone in this thread will suck off drew brees if he killed a man. He's being greedy like Payton manning. That's why Indy couldn't afford pieces around him.

He had to know that his offer was going to strain the organization financially. TWENTY-THREE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR.
Until I see the actual offer he turned down (or what he was offering), I'm not going to judge him.
I've seen way too much of Benson to think that he's being honest about this.
What if the Saints offer was structured as --
$10 Mill signing bonus
$12 Mill 2012
$14 Mill 2013
$16 Mill 2014
$18 Mill 2015
$25 Mill roster bonus after 2015
$25 Mill 2016
The Saints could claim that they were offering him an average of $24 Million per year -- technically making him the highest paid player.
But, everyone knows damn well he'd never get that last $50 million. Just like Peyton Manning isn't going to get that $28 Million roster bonus, nor his 2012 salary from the Colts.
Until I see the actual numbers offered, I reserve making any judgments about the best thing to happen to the city of New Orleans, i.e., Drew Brees.
