Of course OOS players are a harder get, you just have to recruit them harder and get the LSU name out there. Even if you lose, the next kid from that HS may be an easier get. Bama, Auburn, USC, etc, have figured this out a long time ago.
I applaud CLM for doing what he needs to go to get the best players - no matter where they live.

If we have one position that we can compete with any team in the country with its DB. Chavis obviously lets them play & many times on an island. Playin SEC competition it works out great for gettin ready for NFL. Still a long shot but any great DB should consider us.

I have no problem with us going oos state. first, lets get what we can in TX. go see how many guys bama and aubie got from georgia in the last 2 years. we got a total of 3 from texas (randal already gone) and TX has twice the talent of georgia. I bet bama got triple that amount from georgia in the last 2 years and aubie got at least double. protect la., clean up tx. then branch further out.
I don't think it makes sense to expect LSU to get more than 1 player a year outside of the area that begins with TX and goes across and ends with FL.

I agree we do to give priority to our close to home recruits but if a top recruit contacts us we need to do diligent work.

Just a few that came to mind with no previous ties to LSU or this state
Ware, "Neck Tat" Randall, Stephen Rivers, and Kiel are a few others. Even though Kiel never showed up, it is still a great testament to LSU's recruiting staff to have him interested.

Not trying to shite on your party. Ware was a great pickup but he said it was baseball for the reason coming because he wanted to play both. If just football he would have stayed up north. Stephen rivers wasn't highly recruited from big other schools. Hope he pans out. Keil never came so that doesn't matter. Sam and RS and PP were huge pickups for big time players

But this is an AZ guy we're talking about...
Arizona kids are not exactly loyal to the instate schools like we expect in the south. Maybe Rich Rod and Graham can turn it around but in the last two years alone only 3 of the top 15 kids instate both years have signed with either Zona or ASU. 25 have gone out of state and Rivals has the remaining two not signing anywhere.
We got two kids out of there last class and were top 2 for the #3 and #4 guys instate this year before losing them both to different out of state schools.
I know Willis is planning on visiting Arkansas in the spring already so he can easily make it to LSU or vice versa when heads out this way.

I agree...not sure why everyone got mad
If a kid of this caliber shows interest you damn well better recruit him.

I think he honestly likes us. And he isn't worried about who is the coach but he really likes us as LSU

I think Raymond recruited Arizona for Nebraska.

He's also not a true Arizonian. He's from Wisconson and moved to AZ. Can't land a kid from AZ if we don't attempt to. It's not like we offer kids from AZ every year.
Texas has twice the amount of kids that sign than Georgia but compare the top 30 and Georgia is right on par with Texas and possibly better this year. GA is loaded this year but they're damn good every year. The low to mid major signees are only in favor of Texas in sheer numbers. The talent level is on par with one another.
