Natural Gas Stocks

With Natural Gas prices being low currently do you think stocks like WPRT-Westport Innovations or LNG-Chenier Energy are good buys?
LNG exports Natural Gas from US to other countries and WPRT makes engines that run on natural gas.

Interesting idea and I agree with you in theory; I don't see any reason for natural gas pricing to increase significantly for years.
That said, conventional wisdom on natural gas pricing has a tendency to be wrong. In 2008 the gurus said natural gas would never go under $10 again. As things stand it is hard to see what would get natural gas pricing back up other than something like a government decision to encourage conversion of automobiles from gasoline to natural gas.
The stocks you are looking at have had a huge run up in price in the last 3 years and show no profit so I have no idea whether these specific stocks are a good idea.

Ive followed both you mentioned. I tried to buy LNG not too long ago but didn't get the price I wanted. At some point I think wprt will be a solid play as well.
In my portfolio I have, chk, kex, keg, se, and rexx.
If any of them dip below some key numbers I will buy more.
With kex, I've already sold it once in the past 8 months before getting back in it.

Bump with natural gas being above $3.
LNG is up about 30% and WPRT is down about 10% from when this thread started.

LNG just received loans for their Sabine Export terminal and also floated a secondary ... I would wait, given the construction will not be finished until 2015 ... if you want to play it, go with deep in the money calls with a 2014 expiration ... Take a look at SWN and UPL for NG plays, they're a little high right now, but when NG hits $3 , there is usually a pull back, buy then ... sell covered calls and collect $$ every month and if they get called, you've made $$ assuming your strike price is above purchase price. Good time to make $$ w/NG

A pull back in NG prices? I'd love to see where that line of thinking comes from. Care to post a few charts showing this?

I read an article on Seeking Alpha the other day saying that the natural gas supply will be back down to the 5 year avg by the end of August and prices should begin to rise again.

Heres a thought. The company i work for is Enterprise Products (EPD). We are the nations leading pipeline provider with over 56000 miles of pipeline. We move and process nat gas and other LPGs. Our stock dividend has increased for 32 consecutive quarters. Stock prices have gone up $10 a share in last 7-8 months. Currently at about $54 a share. IMO a solid buy.

EPD is a very solid company. Bought at $37.

Check out GTLS- they have a diversified business model but make the pumps and cryogenic stuff necessary to convert LNG to CNG.
And GLNG is beginning to look attractive at these levels. They build FSRU's

If you're bullish on natural gas, Encana (ECA) or Devon (DVN) would both be good picks, with encana offering more risk/reward.
