D and special teams masked unfixed problems on O

LSU ranked 12th nationally in points scored, but our O ranked 75th nationally in ypg. That’s lower than Louisiana Tech, LA-Monroe, and LA-Lafayette.
Oregon outgained LSU 335 yds to 273, but turned the ball over four times more than we did.
West Virginia outgained LSU 533 yds to 336, but turned the ball over four times more than we did.
In their first game, Alabama outgained LSU 295 yds to 239, but missed four field goals.
In their second game, LSU’s offense gained 92 yards, which is fewer yards than North Texas, Georgia Southern, and every other SEC team gained against Alabama.
We have spectacular players on offense. They’re young, and we'll have immediate improvement at the QB position. But the team must get more creative with their offensive schemes and make better mid-game adjustments. This is not just a QB issue. It’s an OC issue and existed regardless of who’s playing QB.

Without our D and Special teams making plays all year, I don't think this team comes close to 13-1. Unfortunately, we couldn't make any of those plays Monday night.

Some one created a thread midseason about our offensive production from last year to this year and I pointed out that the yardage totals were not all that much better.
Of course I got a lot of shite for saying it.
ETA: here it is. LINK

We were probably still more efficient on offense this year, except for the last two games. But that's all we needed to do. We didn't need lots of yardage because our D/ST gave us great field position. The one game we needed lots of yardage was the NC.

If not for our D and special teams we probably go 9-3 this past regular season.
BIG props to those guys.
We should have a good QB next year which will help tremendously. Hopefully we break out the secret playbook with decent QB play next year.

Has LSU ever had a good off. with Miles as the coach?

Yeah, the passing game was a disaster this year. QB's were not accurate and the receivers dropped lots of balls.
The running game in the second half was a bright spot in most games.
Les has not had the right Offensive Coordinator. i like Les, but he could use a strong OC.

The last 3 games is the type of off. Miles wants to run, thats the problem!!!

I think most of the offense's improvements were qualitative. We were a methodical, clock-controlling offense that didn't turn the ball over at all and scored everytime we got in the redzone. That's all we need generally.
But most of that went out the window with Jefferson at QB. It wasn't so much him, as it was the shift to a spread option offensive philosophy that really destroyed the offense. That should've become a concern after first half of Arky game and blatently apparent after Georgia.
