what does this mean? Why would it be dumb to brag a little? That is just apart of being a sports fan.

I think it means big L is the kind of petulant immature person that would bully a subordinate for showing pride in her team just because it displeases him. Big man.

73, it gets better with time. I live in B'ham and was able to take off a couple of days after the game so I blended back into the groove. But I preempted my worst Bama buddies and called them or texted them a congrats ahead of time just to get it out of my system and to kill their thrill.

I don't listen to the radio or watch tv related to college FB. Life is much better. Actually have stayed away from these boards a good bit also. Like I said earlier, it will get easier. Hang in there.

And its hilarious that you think that this type of stuff only goes on in Alabama.

Actually I never said it "only goes on in Alabama". Those are your words, not mine. I'm stating facts. I can not, for a fact, state it happens in other states, as I'm not an official in those other states. What I can say is from 1992-1996, when I was an official with LHSAA I never did see it as bad as I see it today.

Please don't say that I said things, when in fact you did, not I.

It has been pure hell around here! Wife won't let me wear my Purple and Gold. Not out of shame, she just don't want me to get arrested after beating the crap out of an Updyke when they make a smartass comment. Bama fans have to be the worst fans on earth! I have not watched local news, or listened to local radio for the past week. Thank God for XM!! I have been taking the high road, but that is about to get old.

I feel bad for my nephew. Quiet 13 yr old that lives in Mobile. Always wearing a HB7 tshirt. I am sure the toothless locals are giving him hell. The bright side is that this situation will cement a deep hate for Bama in him.

You're a wise man and clearly have the right attitude. I'm a Bama grad and as big a Bama fan as the worst updyke but I don't like talking s### after a big win and especially don't like rubbing it in the faces of my Auburn friends. During Bama's horrific 10 year period between Stallings and Saban I had to put up with a lot of crap from Auburn and Tennessee fans in person and on the radio and internet. It was brutal and every bit as bad as what some of your are experiencing from Bama fans. It's easy to diffuse situations that irritate you. Do what Hoodatt did by pre-empting any trash talk by congradulating the winning side and they usually feel bad about messing with you unless they are complete aholes. I also got XM radio about 4 years ago and I couldn't imagine listening to terrestrial radio anymore. Can't stand the regular sports stations here in Mobile, AL (even as a Bama fan) as they are absolutely terrible. XM is the greatest thing that ever happened to music and sports talk.

I live in Birmingham, I know the feeling. When they bring up the joke about the 50 yard line on the interstate and how did I get back to Birmingham after the game, I just tell them I got behind the gump fan with no teeth in the 1965 pickup heading north so I could get over the line.

Here, in Mobile, AL, It's like the game just ended every day I wake up. Radio stations just laughing it up about our performance. Co-workers giving me their typical BAMA arrogance and ragging me to Hell and back. I have the greatest respect for the BAMA football, but their fan base has to be the worst. I can barely stand this. Any other Tigers out there stuck in my same situation?

Normally I always defend my Tigers from the usually delusional Bammers, but I have NO grounds to stand on this time. None.

Knowing BAMA fan's behavioral tendencies, I'll be stuck in this nightmare for longer than I'd ever wish on anyone. I love all of Tiger Nation. I hate this feeling we all have. Especially for my Tigers in Alabama.

In Mobile too brother..hang in there. Thank god all my friends and neighbors know how distraught I was and did nothing but console me. It was like someone died. Just really made it worst.

Did you not imply as much, though? You stated:
quote:

Thisbreed of person presenthere in Alabama, shamefulasitmaybe, can also have kids. Kidswho think it's okay to behave in such a manner..and thatis carried over to the field of play by those children. See bama1959, I'm an AHSAA official, and I seethisunsportsmanlike behavior...and it's now apparent where it comes from.

Its pretty clear that you are trying to insinuate that this "breed of person" only lives in Alabama, which is dumb to think. So, you did kind of say it.

Remind them that LSU fans DO NOT CRY ON NATIONAL TELEVISION. We move on to the next season.

Ah, that's left to the eyes of the reader Mr Funky Tide.

You merely perceived such as you wanted to read into it, and then you said it.

I'll agree...I insinuated it...and you perceived it. But I never SAID it. Kind of saying it, is NOT saying it.

Sure you have ground to stand on. We finished 13-1 and SEC Champs. They finished 12-1 and BCS champs. We each lost to each other. The season "series" is tied at 1-1. Ask them if we can play again in a month to settle it once and for all. Rubbermatch! Or Re-match the re-match. It's only fair we should get a re-match too, right?

Not to mention....13-1 has a better winning percentage than 12-1.

I had to take it for about 3 days but now it's straight. Would have been nice to have had the Saints win but oh well.

I work with a few. I just tell them they had to fire an Alabama coach and hire a LSU one to get the job done. If it wasn't for us they would be firing like their 6th coach in a row.

In the words of Jack Nicholson in a Few Good Men
"I'd rather you just say thank and went on your way"

I'm with you '73. Listening the the talking heads on WNSP is almost as bad as the Gumps and Updikes themselves.

I have a lot of friends that are Alabama alumni. They aren't as bad due to an education.

I did send out a congrats e-mail to all known Bammers immediately after the game, which seemed to help.

I can't wait until November.
