Ron Cooper was a defensive coordinator once at a SEC school, in 2003 at Mississippi State
He lasted a single season
His defense ranked 113th in the country in total defense, (474 yards per game), and 117th in the country in scoring defense, (over 39 points a game)
The year before, Moo State's defense ranked 24th in the country
The year after he left, they improved to 51st
Would be a great hire for the Aggies

I think DB and LB play is a direct result of Chavis, Cooper would be a loss but he deserves a promotion.

Yeah, my dad is a State fan and laughs whenever I bring Ron Cooper up. Some people are great position coaches but suck as coordinators. Some people are great coordinators, but suck as head coaches. Just one of those things that doesn't always translate up.

Ron is a great DB coach...maybe the best in the country
I have no clue about his ability to be a DC

It is apparently on par with Crowton's ability to develop a QB.

When he was hired at State he said he was installing a Read and React Defense off Lou Tepper's system.
That's all you need to know.
