Wrong.
There is only one national champ. It is the winner of the BCSNCG. We won it in 2003. Whoever wins it this season will be THE national champ. There is no "split".
I refuse to act like the whiners and sycophants from California who claim USC "shared" a national title with us in 2003. As wrong as the BCS is about being set up for Bama to possibly sweep in and claim a title in this way, this is the way it is. We all knew it going in, and if the roles of LSU and Bama were reversed we'd want into the NCG and we'd claim the full title for winning it.
There can be no split. And we will win come January.

Great article. Makes a lot of sense to me. But then, common sense does go well for some.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Stupid
You dont refuse treats
Stupid
Why doesnt our LSU fanbase understand the "talking points relative to gumps" Just claiming it will make Nov 5th somewhat relevant...and even though LSU fans dont care about no AP championship.....claiming it will piss off the entitled gumps.....
So just claim it ....even if you dont mean it

I agree that we will win.
But, you are wrong here. The AP poll was part of the BCS in 2003. They didn't like the outcome, so they pulled out AFTER that year and have awarded their own national champion ever since. USC's AP "championship" was illegitimate in 2003 because the AP didn't like the outcome of the system that they had agreed to.
Every AP championship since has been legitimate, though, including the one that LSU won in 2007.

Wrong?
So you control how the AP is going to vote AND how the University, team and it's fan's will perceive the AP Champion, if it were to happen?
Luckily, your opinion is worthless to LSU.

Wrong. LSU and the SEC signed up for the BCS, allowing it to place them in a bowl based on it's requirements. Like it or not, that's the way it is, just as with USC.
If you don't recognize the BCS NC as the accepted NC, then get out of it. No whining otherwise. Or you sound like a Trojan.

I don't control anything about the AP. In fact, I don't control any of the myriad other "polls" out there.
The AP cannot crown a champion anymore than my fantasy football league or your grandmother's quilting club can take a vote and crown a champion. There is only one champion, by agreement of the NCAA member schools, and that is the winner of the BCS national championship game. This is simply fact, not opinion.
What is a matter of mere opinion is that there is some relevance to whom the AP sportswriters vote champion in their poll. In my opinion, their "crown" is as worthless as the opinions of Courso, Herbstreit, Craig James, and all the other talking heads we unceasingly bitch about on this board.
Are you seriously so desperately clinging to some claim of championship that you'd turn around the day after us losing the NCG and accept the vote of those tools as a championship "crown"? If so, pathetic.
The article makes excellent points about why Bama doesn't deserve to be in the NCG. The solution is for the voters to fix it before the game is played. If OSU takes care of business it will give them all the ammo they need. If OSU loses, then Bama deserves a shot. And we go to the Dome and kick their arse, again. But, win or lose, we don't whine our way into a "split" title.
We're LSU, not uscw.

As is yours. Or mine
There are many LSU fans who will look silly claiming some AP championship if the tigers don't win the BCS. Hypocrisy would definitely fit. I don't think it's an issue as LSU will have little trouble with Baba in the Dome. I can't think of one thing that favors Bama in a rematch away from home.

I beg to differ in that USC never beat us. We did indeed beat bama already.
in any event we should claim it only as a talking point to aggrivate the gumps.

There was a huge outcry among LSU fans that the AP didn't matter, the BCS was agreed to and accepted as THE true NC.

The AP DID matter in 2003, as PART of the BCS formula. Having pulled themselves out and renegged on their comittment, they are now nothing more than a pretty trophy.

I understand where you are coming from , and I agree with some of it , but it is clear to any objective CFB fan who the best team is this year. I don't think we will lose at all if a rematch happens , but if we did I would have no problem with LSU receiving a title from the AP , as a Bama victory wouldn't prove them to be superior to LSU.

LSU has already beaten Alabama on the road. If the Crimson Tide beats LSU in a neutral site BCS "title" game, how can you make a team that lost its division, conference, and merely splits the head-to-head with a team with more and better wins, the uanamious national champion?
wrong, the BCS game determines the champion, you think people really consider 2003 USC the champs? IMO championships = crystal footballs.

Eh, I suppose LSU fans will become like Bama fans and start counting "fringe" championships? The BCS is a system that was agreed upon and is the de facto FBS national championship since the NCAA doesn't recognize a championship from this subdivision.
People are just rationalizing

uhhh, yes...along with LSU. The AP does count and everyone, including the media, would count it as a National Championship.
The NCAA doesn't even recognize national championships in football, so the BCS Championship doesn't officially count for shite either. It's all about what people accept, and the AP is one they still accept.
LSU fans tried to discredit it and prove that premise wrong in 2003 because we didn't want to share anything, but it's a losing argument.
If we play and lose to Bama, I will gladly take an AP championship. Those players, and everything that they've worked for and earned over the entire season deserve it. LSU fans are only worried about what they can celebrate and brag about. They just want to be able to claim "3 crystal balls" or whatever.
