Take AQ away from the Big East

No way they are going to be good enough to deserve a team in a BCS bowl every year.
Replace their bowl spot with an at large spot for all the teams in conferences that dont automatically get a BCS bid.

Give it to the B10 and take them out of the Rose bowl.

Okay, but how do we decide who gets the 10th BCS bid?

How about the top 10 bcs final rankings regardless of conference.

Bc then you're possibly leaving out the conference champions from the SEC, Pac, Big 10, etc.

If the SEC champion isn't in the top 10 probably have three losses so they don't deserve to be there.

let the SEC have a chance to put a third team in.

I think that he meant just fill the 10th spot with a team in the top 10, regardless of conference
like even if it's a 3rd SEC team

Rescind the 2 teams only from any conference rule solves the problem.

Eliminate the autobid completely and let the bowls pick from the eligible teams. Use the existing eligibility rules.
There will still be de facto autobids. The Sugar will always take an SEC team if available, the Rose will always take its precious little Big Televen-Pac 1 matchup.

I doubt conferences will want to give up the assurance of getting a team in a BCS bowl.

Ya think? So another conference could get 45-60 million while they get zero?
The Big East does need to lose their bid though. But it can't just be rescinded with them not living up to certain criteria. I can't remember what that is exactly, maybe not having a rep in the top 12 in the BCS for 3 straight years or something. Even then, I'm not sure what entity makes the proposal.

Can't remember the exact formula, but they failed to meet it once before and they were allowed to stay. Which means revoking it will lead to a lawsuit.
Other problem is if the BE gets kicked out the non-AQs will have a majority and will be able to pass NCAA legislation giving themselves a more equitable deal. Then the big boys will have to decide two things: (1) is it worth throwing away March Madness to secede? and (2) are they willing to go a step further and kick out the bottom feeders in the AQ conferences?

Baylor is preparing to sue as we speak.

what the frick?
that's not how it works. there are more schools with votes than BCS schools, but nobody fricks with the system b/c they risk losing everything. non-BCS schools will get bent the frick over if they try to frick up the system

Who are the elligible teams? As of right now that is any team with 9 wins and in the top 14.
It would create a lawsuit when all the big dogs that bring the most revenue get picked every year. Disater plan.

i could see autobids and then less restrictive rules (including allowing 3 teams from a conference in)

How about this:
The conference rating is calculated by Sagarin as we know.
If your conference is the bottom of the A-Q's, then you have to have a 9-3 or better and #14 in the BCS to AUTO qualify, just like ND has to have 9-3 or better and #14 or better to AUTO qualify for a BCS slot.
That way its not about Big east. Currently their best team is not in the top 14.

Actually, the AQ schools would still be the majority with 62 members compared to 58 non-AQ schools.
