ohio, would you be ok with Tennessee losing Florida annually, but keeping Bama and UGA, and adding LSU?
Yes. The Florida rivalry is something that only exists because the winner of that game decided the East for about 10 years. Other than that, there isn't really anything special about the game.

I think it will be #1 and it pisses me off.
Let Auburn go to the East where they want to be and to hell with Alabama and Tennessee. If their game is so important to them then they can schedule each other as a non-conference game some years.
LSU has been forced to give up SEC night games in Tiger Stadium. LSU and Kentucky had to can our annual game when we went to 12 teams. Auburn and Florida had to give up theirs. Some of us have already made sacrifices so the Gumps and Hillbillies can too.
Having said all that I know lots of Missouri alumni and fans. A large number of them don't mind at all if they are put in the East. They realize that the travel distances are not much different and feel that they can compete in the East much sooner and easier than taking on LSU, Alabama and Auburn in the West.
I agree. If Missouri goes to the East and doesn't get Tx AM as their permanent rival, wouldn't that really hurt their recruitment in Texas. The Texas recruits are very important to Missouri. I would think that if Missouri goes to the East, that they would insist on having Tx AM as their permanent rival.

I've heard more Auburn guys say they would be ok with Iron Bowl not being yearly
I find this very hard to believe.
Blee dat.

Why should Tennessee make a sacrifice to accommodate Auburn getting what they want?

So who was forced to give up their biggest rivalry after expanding to 12 teams?

You could say the same thing about AU. We had to give up the Florida and Tennessee games when the conference went to divisions.

Which means UT had to give up Auburn and I'll gladly give up Georgia.

Nice work. I think option 2 makes the most sense geographically (for travelling distances). Also, I think it most evenly matches up the conferences on paper.
2. If you were to truly split up the conference geographically east and west:
SEC East:
Florida
Georgia
Tennessee
South Carolina
Auburn
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
SEC West:
LSU
Alabama
Mizzou
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Miss State
Ole Miss
If the only issue with this is the Alabama permanent rivalry argument, then that would need to be discussed.

great idea.

Agree Chicken with option 4. By far the best. I just want for personal reasons to put aggy in the east and make them pay for travel. IN case you haven't figured it out I absolutely loath aggy, more so then bama. Anything from Texass is bad but aggy nut grabbers are the worst.

Ok, I made a slight adjustment to option 4. Really no need to flip flop Auburn and Tennessee...so leave them in their current divisions...move Miss State to the East and put Mizzou in the West:
SEC East:
Florida
Georgia
Tennessee
South Carolina
Miss State
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
SEC West:
LSU
Auburn
Alabama
Arkansas
Mizzou
Texas A&M
Ole Miss
Permanent cross-division games would be:
LSU / Florida
Auburn / Georgia
Alabama /Tennessee
Arkansas / South Carolina
Mizzou / Kentucky
Texas A&M / Vanderbilt
Ole Miss / Miss State
Thoughts?

Very nice. I could see the Arkansas fans wanting Mizzou, though.

Smoke, in option 4, Arkansas and Mizzou would both be in the West and play every year.

works. has no obvious drawbacks.

Vandy and A&M seems a bit like a mismatch. I'll take it but someone a little higher profile would be nice.
I would prefer UF or USCe from the E if I had my choice

Well, under option 4, the games in bold would be set:
LSU / Florida
Auburn / Georgia
Alabama /Tennessee
Arkansas / South Carolina
Mizzou / Kentucky
Texas A&M / Vanderbilt
Ole Miss / Miss State
So, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Vandy would be in play for LSU, Arkansas, Mizzou and Texas A&M.
I would almost be in favor of rotation between these 8 schools.

Wow ...
I seriously didn't think that anyone could come up with a split that didn't result in bitching from LSU, Bama, or Auburn fans. Quick, get it to Slive before they announce something different!

It's a bad idea. With the lowest budget in the SEC, travel cost for our school would increase and our "poor" fans can't travel(drive) as easy to those games as Tuscaloosa (90 miles) or Auburn or Baton Rouge or Fayetteville for that matter. The only bordering state is Tennessee and knoxville isnt' close at all. What's weird is State has hardly ever palyed any of those teams in it's entire existence. It's would be like adding another Mizzou to the east in terms of rivalry or intensity or interest for that matter.
I prefer taking my lumps from the likes of Bama and LSU.

Option: North/South divisions.
This would primarily affect Georgia. Which rivalry would they have to keep?
vs. Auburn? (Deep South's Oldest)
vs. Florida? (FL-GA Classic, World's Largest Cocktail Party)

LSU/MSU have played 105 times, I prefer the SEC not kill that
so I guess one but I like the idea of UT to the west if MSU stays west too
