If Jefferson did not do it and all these people were out there fighting and screaming, then WHO DID IT? Didn't people see who did it???
Is it really that hard to believe that no one really did see? From the looks of the video we saw, it was fairly dark and it looked like total chaos. Unless you were standing off to the side TRYING to watch who did what, it seems almost like total chance to actually see who did what.
Add to that, not every person there was an LSU football player...so there's no reason to even assume a player did any actual kicking. Keep in mind that when the three other "victims" were interviewed at the hospital several hours later NONE of them identified their assailants as even being football players...just black guys.

Is info from the grand jury testimony ever released? Who testified? Questions/answers? Anything released?
Also, just thinking that why did it HAVE to be a player that kicked anyone? Players have other friends don't they? Other people are at bars where players are ... maybe it was assumed that they were and that girl just said the names she knew/heard?

You saw how it turned out when this guy took the stand.

I think it's almost certain that some LSU football player(s) kicked a dude in the head repeatedly while he was down and outmanned in a bar fight, and any players doing this should be kicked off the team in my opinion.
The fact that Johns & Jefferson are facing major charges, while nobody else does, looks very bad for them. It's hard to believe that prosecutors would be so incompetent to just randomly charge guys based on the most exciting rumors out there.
On the other hand, the case is looking bad for prosecutors right now. You don't necessarily have to have a criminal case against a player in order for the coach to decide that he needs to be kicked off the team, but at this point, I suppose it's possible that the B.R. prosecutors just Nifong-ed this thing from start to finish.
Even so, it still seems like if JJ had some kind of involvement in the fight, or else the behavior of Miles and the rest of the team really doesn't seem to make much sense to me.
I, too, have had a hard time believing that both of the JJs are completely clean in all of this, so Jefferson taking the stand seems extremely risky; perjury is not joke--especially over a crime that's likely to be pled out as a misdemeanor. But Unglesby is, by all accounts, a very good trial lawyer. I can't imagine why he'd allow this if he wasn't sure that there was something significant to be gained from Jefferson giving his side to the jurors.
Maybe he is actually innocent (I'm entertaining that thought for the first time).

I'm only asking because up here in Virginia I have virtually zero access to "real" information, and I'm certainly never going to make any assumption regarding guilt or innocence based on the rumor mill/tidal wave of bullshite that is internet media. I'm wondering if there was some real information the you found significant or if you just never thought about it much.

I've thought about it plenty. And yes, it is reasonable to assume that, in our system, most people charged with a crime are to some degree guilty (of something relating to the crime).
If you read the totality of my posts you'll probably see that I've defended Jefferson as strongly as anyone. But that's only because I thought that this whole thing has been a fricking fiasco instigated by an overly-zealous PD seeking media attention. I'll say again: 49 pairs of shoes, 30-50 witnesses interviewed, DNA taken, and a GJ seeking a felony indictment over a fricking fight in which no one was even admitted to a hospital for overnight observation.
But I never really thought that he was completely innocent in this.
I'm starting to question that.

quote:I guess for uninvolved observer, it doesn't really matter what they assume. So playing the odds (which definitely favor those arrested/charged being guilty) is reasonable. It just kind of makes my skin crawl knowing how many people make a habit of that assumption, and those same people end up serving on juries. I'd like to think everyone can seperate their day to day assumptions from their responsibilities as jurors, but habits are often very hard even to be aware of, much less break.
And yes, it is reasonable to assume that, in our system, most people charged with a crime are to some degree guilty (of something relating to the crime).
In this particular case, however, I always believed that the general probabilities were being skewed by the media circus triggered by one of the accused being the starting QB for LSU. As soon as I heard that, I knew just about anything was possible. Including a bunch of overeager knucklehead cops rushing to make a case to prove to the media that they were giving the football players "special treatment" and ending up arresting entirely innocent guys. Maybe we'll find out eventually, but my guess is we'll never really know.

My guess. We will never really know if he is guilty or not. Just if there isn't enough evidence, or if there is enough stories pointing at him.

If Jefferson wasn't involved, there is noway he would have been arrested. Please tell me what good it does the BRPD for arresting the starting qb of LSU? Jefferson was involved and the grand jury will not send it to trial b/c Hillar doesn't want it to go to trial. The grand jury will basically do whatever Hillar wants them to do.

I wish they would wait for the season to be over, so Jefferson can't play at all this year. Go Lee.

So Jefferson will be forced to tell who really kicked the guy during the fight. If he didn't do it, he knows who did. If he doesn't tell who did it, or even who he heard did it, he will go down. Soon enough, we will all know who did this. If he didn't do it, the player who did is a low life piece of sh** for not being a man and stepping up. Someone is going to jail for this, wait and see.

You crammed a lot of conjecture into so small a paragraph. I'm impressed.
