Six years old.

True, but if an animal can eat you, you might want to give it SOME leeway.

I understand the whole PETA side of it: he's a rare breed, and we need to take care of him. That being said: He exists on our campus to be our mascot. He already lives a life of luxury, the least he could do is put up with a little force to get in the cage 5 times this year... Put some food in the cage or something. I don't think the assistants are being creative enough.

What if he really doesn't like the cage, and finds the games traumatic?
There is a reason why they don't use anything more overt than coaxing and calling.

I'm pretty sure this is the case. It's been an issue since day 1. This Mike wasn't raised in that trailer like our departed friend. I doubt he ever gets fully used to it.

They don't coerce or sedate him.
I know it's terrible of me to say so, but why can't they arrange to feed him in the trailer a couple of times per week, at least during the season, make it part of his routine?
Then it won't be such a trauma for him to get in there and go do his job...and he gets something out of the exchange.
I guess that's why I'm not a vet.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard. Mike f'ing loves LSU football, the crowds, the sounds, the smells, the pageantry. Something is wrong.

He needs some Serengeti snatch! C'mon! He's six years old, already.

We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Put a cattle prod on his arse.

OR someone can go in there and grab him by the nutt sack and haul him in the trailer.

Put some food in the cage or something.

So you, random joe-blow fan, know more about training and working with large-breed cats than people who work at the vet school and do this for a living

Are you new to following LSU, or do you just read shite from the 60's?

“We’ll put toys and scents in there,” said Cross, “but things like meat don’t really work. Because he doesn’t have to hunt for his food, he really isn’t food motivated.”
