SEC should drop kentucky, add UNC and Va Tech and it would represent the exact same states as the confederacy did (assuming TAMU eventually gets in)
if germans... then

Kentucky was the thirteenth star on the Confederate flag and by your comment it is obvious that you are unable to name the other twelve. You're an idiot.

I guess the next step would be for the CSC to declare it's independence and secede from them yankees at the NCAA.

I like it! Then we can attack a state full of Yankees, so Florida.

kentucky was claimed by the CSA but didnt actually ever secede themselves

Did Kentucky send representative to the Confederate States Congress and if so were they seated as full members?

This. Kentucky was a Confederate state. It was just also a union state. In all actuality, if the war had continued on for much longer, everything East of Lexington would have probably been absorbed by WV and everything West would have been Confederate probably. Basically, the dividing line today would be I-75.

Nick Saban as Stonewall Jackson
Mark Richt or Houston Nutt as Pickett

That can be said for several states. Northern Alabama and Georgia as well as eastern Tennessee were as pro-union as Massachusetts. And then there was that small discontent in Virginia that led to a new state being created.

whatever, its debatable and i'm not here to debate. if it makes you feel better i'll say we can keep kentucky

Not sure yet, but he would have has as good a shot as any to be Pickett after that fail he put on the field last week..
I better go look up some fine Southern generals.

It would have been more accurate for you to say to add Texas A&M, Missouri, VT and a North Carolina school, because then each state represented in the Confederate Congress would be represented in the SEC.

You just sound mad y'all don't get to be a part of new southern pride.

ok we'll go with your plan rhodeislandred, i'm not a history buff but your suggestion gets the same point and leaves us with a 14 team conference

Kentucky is as southern as Missouri.
"The Confederacy recognized the pro-Confederate claimants in both Kentucky and Missouri and laid claim to those states based on their authority, with representatives from both states seated in the Confederate Congress. Later versions of Confederate flags had 13 stars, reflecting the Confederacy's claims to Kentucky and Missouri, and the large numbers of soldiers they provided."

Good read, Busey. But believe it or not the team that created big time college football in the South is Vanderbilt. They were the first ones to play the powerhouse teams from the northeast on a regular basis. As their coach said to his team before their 1910 game with Yale, "Some of your grandfathers rest in Confederate cemeteries and this afternoon on the football field you will meet the grandsons of the Yankee sons of bitches who put them there."
