Identity Theft

Since I just bought my new truck and now I'm in the middle of refinancing my house, it seems like I've been giving out my SSN, birth date, bank account numbers, etc left and right lately. It got me thinking about how easy it is for someone to get my personal info and open up credit cards, etc on my name. I was thinking of signing up for an Identity Guard or Lifelock type service, but I heard they're really not worth the money and do little to protect your identity.
Do any of you actually use these types of ID/credit protection services? Are they effective?

No. Just initiate a 90 day fraud alert with the bureaus.

in the biz, 90 lock is the best route. That being said...ID theft is an when not if event.

I have ID theft protection through Zander Insurance. They are endorsed by Dave Ramsey.
What you are paying for with them is for someone to "clean up the mess" when/if it does happen, as this could take days/weeks of your time and trouble. They handle it all for you.
