Our current roster..

I was on hoopshype and looking through the NBA rosters and we currently have the smaller roster in the league with only 6 players on the payroll.
It never hit me how empty our roster is right now. Man I hope we make some moves this off-season after this lock out. If we have no season and CP3 walks then we are down to 5.

The only move we could possibly make is CP3. We have noone left that anyone would want. Our 2011 draft yielded us 750k in cash and Jarrett Jack
Thats piss poor

Whatever opinion you have of Jack, he's a viable backup at PG with the ability to start if need be.
That's exactly what you'd hope for if you drafted a PG, so I see no problem there.

A solid backup is piss poor for a late first?

$42 million on 6 players [assuming we get Belinelli]
We have starting 1 [and backup], start/backup 2, starting 3 [and backup], no 4, and starting 5.
Most teams spent around $65 million last year, so assuming things stay the same [which they won't], we have $20-25 million to spend on a backup 2, keep Dwest or Landry [and sign a backup] and get a backup center - plus a few more "bodies."

We have fewer players on our roster than any team in the league... It doesn't look pretty.

I think a lot of people just assume a 1st rounder should get you a starter, but that's just not how the NBA draft works.

not even every top 10 player is a starter...

Sounds about right.

This is not good. I'm hoping for a some good moves to happen after this CBA ends and hope everything ends up well.

... sucks
sorry thought it was a "finish this sentence" thread
i realistically see things going like this:
1.) lose D. West
2.) we become a less than average team, losing a lot of games
3.) CP3 becomes more disenfranchised, and really wants out
4.) lose CP3
5.) fans, without any stars in the line up to keep them interested, basically wash their hands of the franchise
6.) team bolts to another city
sorry, i know it's not going to be popular, but that's all i can see at this point for the hornets... we don't have the talent, money, etc. to compete in a big market driven league... i wish we did, but we don't...

no one has ever thought of that.

Thats pretty awesome considering most late first rounders and 2nd rounders dont even come close to the production level of Jarret Jack.

Agreed. Yea we NEED to make some moves. This is hard to say...but if we can't make any moves and CP3 looks like he's going to fly then we should think about what Utah and Denver did. They were most likely going to lose their stars and made out like bandits with draft picks and players.
Lord, the Nets are going to look like the biggest dumbasses if D Williams doesn't resign with them. How stupid can you be, not having any insurance that he would stay.

Why wouldn't he resign? The Nets are going to offer him the most money and add pieces around him. Players will want to play for the Nets. And they're gonna have the nicest arena in the NBA which will practically be in NY. Only way he leaves, IMO, is if Cuban lures him to Dallas, which would be a really nice fit.
