Its inevitable that he will pay taxes on his money. And most players hire agents. And as far as blowing money, I didn't say he did, just that I would and can't think of many 19yo that wouldn't.
Is it so wrong that I think it's a good idea for a talented kid to get an education if he can? It's already been stated that he seems to come from a well-to-do family. Probably could have gotten the education and still been just fine for the future.

Why so ignorant Bradley?

Ok man. You're freaking me out. First of all, I guess you have a man crush on Bradley. I get it. But why stalk me? Why do you care

Ok maybe I exaggerated the point.
But you know when a 19yo gets that cash he's going to drop half a mil on shopping, car, women, life etc. And he has to pay taxes, agents, etc. It goes faster than you think
I know what you are saying, but that is plenty of money to live comfortably on if you are smart. I'm sure this kid has decent parents and will make the right decisions

I'm sure you're right. I just hope the kid is ok. He seemed to truly love LSU.

Link to any site that shows where JR has money problems. Just because he stopped paying the mortgage on a house that he no longer wishes to live in doesn't mean he's broke. Just means he's not going to sink any more money into a wasted piece of property.

I guess the beat up old candy painted Chrysler 300 was a rental while his 5 series was in the shop?
That was what I saw him getting in at the spring game anyway.

uh, what? Do you know what a mortgage is?

I teach a guy who pitches within the dodgers farm system who told me Lee is an arrogant prick. I don't like the kid at all for what he did to Lsu. I dont give a shite about the money do the right thing when you make a commitment honor it. For those of you who want to talk dollars let's talk about Pat Tillman who turned down dollars to die for his county. Now that's a role model not some punk kid. I could care less if his arm is blown out it's called karma

On the contrary. Josh has managed to live quite the douchebag lifestyle on what he stole from the Marlins.

So you're saying he's not really broke, just a deadbeat?
He came across better being broke.

Not quite the same thing. He will lose all equity he has in the house but not have to throw any more money at it. The bank will take over the house and still turn a profit. Not quite a win-win, but as close as you can get in a combination of bad housing market and losing high-paying job in a state 2000 miles from home.

You do realize that the bonus was spread out and not paid out all at once?

$5 million wont last long?????????????? more than most o us make in a lifetime

I wonder what kind of tax load he'll see on over $5M?
So, he'll be 19 years old with $3M to last the rest of his life. Sure, he'll go out and buy a flashy vehicle and rent some high priced pad. Once he gets used to bigger spending, it'll be tough to switch to a frugal lifestyle.
Once his career is over, if he does not resign at the end of this contract. He may have a million or two left. I just hope at the still very young age, he can then think about his future. He'll still need to go to college to make it through the next 50 or 60 years of his life after that.
