Looks like some pretty heavy rain coming from Texas. How will this affect the river?

It depends on how much falls. With the drainage here in BR, the water has to be pumped somewhere and guess where that is...
Even if we get 3 inches tonight, it's not going to have a monumental impact (twss) on the river. The real problem is going to come from the increased saturation levels in the grounds and especially the levees.

99% of BR drains into the Amite Basin

At this point, rain upstream is more of a problem than rain in BR

Rain around BR and NOLA isn't an issue. Rain up in Arkansas, North Mississippi and Tennessee are more of a problem for river levels.
