On topic:

If announcing a next gen console with previous gen graphics is good news then

Seriously though. Sony's console will have next gen graphics and despite a few exclusive titles, do everything that the Wii2 will probably do. I don't think Nintendo will be in the same position with their next console.

So all the kiddy games will have better graphics? Sony and Microsoft could careless what Nintendo does anymore. They are easily 3rd in the pecking order now

Here's an IGN link if Kotaku isn't good enough for you. It has been reported by pretty much every single major gaming outlet today
LINK

"Our sources have said the the console is significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that Nintendo's intent is to recapture the hardcore market. Another source said it is capable of 1080p resolutions."

I've heard that it will feature a quad-core Marvell CPU, but of course this is just speculation.

You do realize that there is a point of diminishing returns, right?

Its already almost past the point of the problem not being what the hardware is capable of, but paying for the artistic and programming talent to utilize all of that processing power well.

The PS4 will have better graphics.....but outside of a bare handful of blockbluster games that have resources lavished on it, it won't be THAT much better than PS3 titles. Just maybe busier.

It won't be at all like the jump from PS2 to PS3
