A lot of people seem to confuse those two.

to obvious IMO. And they have made a point of not showing who's wedding it is in the flashforwards. Leads me to believe it is not Punchy's
Fact:
Ted will meet the mother at Punchy's wedding.

I think they need to do the numbers game again. Only this time count up and lead to something legen..... um.... good.

And Robin marries Barney, hence Aunt Robin. Boom.
Though I do believe that Robin and Barney will end up getting married, they are all called Aunt and Uncle regardless.
There have been hints of this along the way, including the episode where they break up about how they weren't ready to be together, yet... (or something like that)
Also strong reasoning is that besides the mother, no one will join their group in the end that isn't already in it.

They just did the Clue episode (gimmick a few weeks ago) where everyone was a character and color from the game.

Negative. Punchy's not a big enough character for Ted to meet her at his wedding. I'm sticking with the Barney and Robin wedding. The two people who have said countless times during the show that they don't want to get married, are going to marry each other. It's just too perfect that Ted would meet his wife at their wedding. It's too big of a home run for the writers not to do.

I don't think you know what the word "fact" means

While this could make sense since we know he will be the best man at that wedding, they have showed him together with Marshall in a tux at the wedding where he meets his wife.
Are we to believe that Marshall is ALSO a groomsmen at Punchy's wedding? That is far fetched. Now he would be a groomsmen at Barney's and possibly Robin's wedding.

I like the theory of marshall having to "fill in" at Punchy's wedding. I could see that happening. Punchy does live in NYC correct?

I think he lives in Chicago...

I was thinking it was Cleveland or Chicago. I thought he had to take a flight to NYC....that would make it hard to meet his wife there. We know she lives in NYC.

This is one of the great things about the show. Almost every show has a gimmick of some kind that is used for comedic effect. Some are so subtle that you may not even notice if you don't watch he show ever week. The clue episode is a good example.

no, think he lives in some small town Ohio place. That is where Ted is from and they are HS friends

I see your point... if that's the case...
He could be nervous (as for-mentioned he was peeling the label off the beer bottle, a nervous tick of Ted's pointed out in s6.e01.) about being best man to Barney AND Robin... and jitters about losing Robin forever!
That makes sense as well.

I just like how the last episode ended... "are you still with Zooey?" "OOH no that did not end well!!"
The end of this season should be greatness!

so does that mean

is no longer a fact?

I would not put it past Marshall to wear a tux even though he isn't in the wedding.
Proof!
Marshall in a tux!
Proof!
Marshall in a tux!

So does the fact that Punchy is not in New York mean that Ted's wife is not at Punchy's wedding?
