I was told there are major asbestos issues there. Remediation would be cost prohibitive. Those suites would be great for gamedays, especially rainy ones.

Thanks. They are looking very nice.

There are. But the whole "cost prohibitive" nonsense needs to stop. Tiger Stadium will be with us for a long time. Whatever the costs involved in ripping the asbestos out would be more than absorbed by the money generated by renting those rooms out.
AFAIK there's not a college stadium in the country that provides housing as close Tiger Stadium condos would.

I agree completely.
They look amazing. I think we have one of the best stadiums in the league. I especially love the arches on the north side of the stadium- kinda wish the upper decks had that style too.
The new windows dress the place up. I'm even more impressed with how fast the money was raised.
Wonder if they can get people to donate $500 each for a window on Johnston Hall, Hatcher Hall, and all those other older buildings adjacent to the stadium...
The ideas about selling or renting out condos in the stadium would probably bring in serious recurring revenue. Few other stadiums in the country can do that, and I think that if they could clean up the lead paint and other environmental issues, it would bring in support in the long run. There must be room for several hundred high end apartments or condos there.

The south end zone needs to be given the same arched treatment as the north. Been saying this for a while.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I always thought the south end zone looked kinda plain....but I always expected the south end zone to be where new box seats where built at some point.
I hope they never cover up the north end zone with a new jumbo-tron or some kind of structure to obscure it. It's pretty much what I picture when Tiger Stadium comes to mind.
I love the older pics of LSU taken before they build the south end-zone. We really do have one of the prettiest stadiums out there. I'm glad doners are spending money to keep it looking great.
Maybe one day, I'll have enough income to support LSU more than I currently do....both TAF and the LSU Foundation.

I wish the framing was gray instead of Black. The Black brings to much attention to the windows.

How long do you think before they add an upper level to the SEZ?
Posted on 11/19/10 at 3:59 pm to ztucke2
The last I heard about a SEZ Upperdeck, was that it would be more about box seats than regular seating.

Are the new windows unbreakable? If not, what's to stop the new ones from being busted out by vandals, just as the old ones that are being replaced were? If they're not going to renovate all the old dorm rooms, then why not install some kind of arched facades (That match the existing arches) in the spaces where the window units are. That would look better than the new "Windows to Nowhere.".............

I don't think we've heard the last on renovating the old dorm rooms. That could just be my naive hope, but I don't think so.
LSU is sitting on a potential gold mine with those dorm rooms. Some one needs to tell them to wake the frick up.

Yeah the next huge project, which likely won't take place for some time considering the economic environment and the inability of the athletic department to keep athletic revenue, is a rehab of TS, along with addition or more suites and club seating to TS.
It is costing Washington 250 MIllion to rehab and renovate their delapidated shite. It will likely cost something like that for TS, not to mention the university still owns a portion with the dorms and asbestos problems plaguing it. So we just don't have that type of scratch right now.
But if they don't us that the plan is a huge revamp of TS, and they wanted "x" amount of dollars to fund it, I would immediately donate for the cause.

Most windows are breakable. A window that is not breakable is called plywood and it's not really a window.
It they put up "unbreakable" windows, they would have to be plastic and would look like crap.

Supposedly the 3M+/ parking next year
+
7M Bayou Country Fest
+
Possible increase in ticket prices
= 10M+ to offset the 1.4M in additional budget cuts athletics must pay for.
I'm missing something here
