Lets apply the 'When TCU played X they were ranked Y' game shall we.
LSU has played the following teams with rankings at the time of play:
UNC - 18
West Virg.- 22
Flordia - 14
Alabama - 5
Also,
Missippi State currently ranked 18th in coaches.
Once again..zero comparison to TCU or Boise State

Remember how great that passing attack Hawaii had in 2007. Remember how Georgia exposed them. Does Hawaii = Boise State or TCU?

What team or what Miles would show up?
The same team and the same Miles they have been all season... The dramatic, exciting, fun, controversial, grass-eating, let er rip team and coach. Personally, I wouldn't want it any other way!

The point was Baylor is a better team this year than they have been in the past, so you can't simply dismiss them because they're "Baylor." Yes, LSU has played tougher opponents over all, I'm not arguing that point.

Yes. Boise would be about the same thing as LSU playing a good FCS team. Boise is king of the WAC, which is like being the class bully in 4th grade. Big deal.
Conversely, TCU is the real deal IMO. I think they could genuinely hang in the Big-12. This year they could probably win the Big-12 South Div but Pelini's Big Red would wax them in the Big 12 CG.

Does Hawaii = Boise State or TCU?
In my opinion, no. That Hawaii team was completely one dimensional on offense, and average at best on defense.

Comparing Hawaii to Boise or TCU is a complete misnomer. That Hawaii team was a "Run and Shoot" offense with a bad defense. TCU and Boise are much more balanced on offense and both are terrific defensively.

Like a rented mule. Remember Ga. Tech and how tough that game was supposed to be. TCU and Boise are the same type of competetion.
Comparing TCU to Georgia Tech
to your epic idiocy

Don't even bother with these clowns.
Most of em have no clue that TCU starts 21 seniors. Most don't know that their OL is as big or bigger than any we've played this year. Most don't know that their DL is a top 5 unit.
We would play with Boise and could we play with TCU? Sure we could, but if you think TCU is the kind of Hawaii/GT team that we would simply impose our all-mighty SEC will on then you just don't watch college football.

So they have 21 seniors returning. If an inferior team (because of their conferance and general level of skill is less than the SEC)is returning 21 inferior players, it doesn't matter what their experience level is. If they were inferior as juniors they might be better this year but still shitty (compared to SEC teams).
The point is Hawaii's competition made them look like world beaters. The same could be said for TCU and Boise state competion.

I'm done with you clowns. Take this thread to the MSB and see what non-LSU homers have to say.

No............I don't think there's anyone who thought that that Hawaii team were "world beaters". They were the product of mainly their system and that quarterback. Boise and TCU are complete teams. And yes, having 21 starters back, which BSU does this season, makes a huge difference. There are way less mistakes made on the field as a result of that fact alone. Then you couple that with their coaching and talent, and you have the makings of a great team. Boise has beaten enough BCS teams at this point that their legitimacy should be unquestioned. TCU, although not having beaten many BCS teams other than Baylor, is doing something defensively not seen in quite some time in Division I football. We'd have a tough time against either team this season. We could beat them....................but I wouldn't be surprised if we lost....................at least no more surprised than when Utah took Alabama behind the woodshed in January of '09.

And when you play shitty competition, you won't improve nearly as much as if you had to play against more athletic teams.

Baylor has only beat one team with a winning record. That was Kansas St. 47-42. Baylor does not look that tough.

This may or may not be true. But if you're already a great team, then there's not as much need to "improve". All you have to do is beat those supposed "superior" teams when you meet them on the field. Its the exact same formula I watched Miami use during the 80s when everyone used to doubt them too. Your conference affiliation doesn't matter much if you're a good team. We see it in football and also basketball. If what is being argued in this thread were true, then there's no way a team like Butler should even come close to making an NCAA championship basketball game, much less play Duke to the final seconds in that game. Unfortunately for us, there's no football playoff to quiet all this noise. So, we end up with people basing a team's quality on the competition they've faced.

I would not underestimate Boise. I lived in Boise for 8 years in the same neighborhood as Chris Peterson...I don't think the Boise would go undefeated in the SEC but I do think that given a month to prepare, Chris Peterson could come up with a plan to beat anyone in the country. It would be an interesting game for sure. If it's in NOLA, I see LSU winning no doubt.

I don't believe that truly great teams are great on their own, without the need to be constantly improving against tough competition. Truly great teams develope greatness through the battles that stretch their skills.
I used to cream my Dad and brother in table tennis and used to think that I was great, only to be humiliated by my college roomate one day.
But I could not develope beyond the competition.

Excuse me but the 1990 and 1991 UNLV Runnin' Rebels would like to have a word with you.

Of course. Those guys have not heard much about defense except for TCU.
