I get that OL is the hardest to predict success when recruiting, but our success or lack of it with our OL is killing us.....

since 2006, we have recruited and signed 24 OL players. not bad, but our success rate is only 50%. said another way, only 12 of those 24 remain on the roster.

2006 OL Class
Phil Loadholt - never qualified, transferred to OU, is playing in the NFL for the Vikings
Steven Singleton - transferred to South Carolina (2nd Team)
Zhamal Thomas - kicked off the team, transferred to Arkansas (2nd Team, gets regular PT)
Mark Snyder - medical hardship
Matt Allen - transferred to TAMu in '08

100% attrition with the '06 class

2007 OL Class
Joseph Barksdale
Will Blackwell - hurt
Josh Dworaczyk
T-Bob Hebert
Jarvis Jones - kicked off team, starts for OU
Ernest McCoy - transferred to TX Southern

33% attrition rate for '07 class

2008 OL Class
Alex Hurst
PJ Lonergan
Greg Shaw
Matt Branch (orig a TE)
Thomas Parsons - medical hardship
Clay Spencer - medical hardship

33% attrition rate for '08 class

2009 OL Class
Josh Williford
Chris Faulk
Stavion Lowe - left team, why?
Carneal Ainsworth - left team for personal reasons

50% attrition rate for '09 class

2010 OL Class
Evan Washington
Cam Fordham
Elliot Porter - got caught up in #'s game

33% attrition rate for '10 class

Overall
24 players recruited
12 players on '10 team
50% attrition

2011 OL Class
La'el Collins
Trai Turner
Corey White

We lose Barksdale, assuming no more attrition, that gets our #'s up to 14 for 2011.

Offensive line was supposed to be Miles' strong suit, but it's been his main weakness over the last few years.

Sure would be nice to have Jarvis Jones right now.

Not that anyone is comparing, but Saban's O-line recruiting at LSU was pretty shitty.

indeed we were VERY thin at OL when he was here. He also left the cupboard bare.

Allen is one that went to A&M and Snyder had to quit football because of medical reasons

O-line between 2006-2008 was pretty good. I think a lot of our troubles is coaching and scheme. Obviously we've lost a lot with attrition, but look at the guys on the field.

Barksdale is good, possibly All-SEC.
Lonergan has been pretty good.
Hurst and Josh D are alright I suppose.
I'm curious as to how good Blackwell would've been this year at RG.

Overall, our line is good but far from great. Pretty good pass blocking from the tackles, weak at guard, center seems to be okay

Saturday did nothing to help with Robinson.....

BTW, the oline has been doing pretty well before Saturday. I am not ready to write them off.

I thought the same thing. TBob is just too small IMO.

our OL looked bad v McNeese.
i'm not writing them off.
it's more about roster management or rather mis-management. only a 50% success rate where success = still on the team.

When Auburn poaches Robinson from Louisiana, it will do further damage to our OL depth. fricking pathetic to lose two top recruits from Thibodeaux in two consecutive years to fricking Auburn. Intolerable.

Damn, I didn't realize just how big of a FAIL our o-line recruiting/retention has been. This sucks. We have all this 5 star talent and nobody that can block for them!

Why is it that Miles recruits D-Lineman to play Offensive line?

Our weakest assistant coach is definitely Studrawa. Just look at that belly and you know he lacks discipline. He evaluates talent poorly. He coach technique poorly. We have a terrible attrition rate. Miles was an offensive linesman and lines coach. You would think he could see where the problem lies.
