I think it's just 64 biggest schools in the state, but I may be wrong.

How often do they reclassify schools? I see some 1a schools with more students than 2a.

i'm wondering about sam houston....they have been 4A for over 10 years now, but moss bluff continues to grow in all directions....i've heard the numbers they put out are skewered every year

I was told the same thing about South Plaq. I don't have any idea though.

sam houston has over 100 more than STM and is still 4A

Some 2A schools are actually Class B schools that got too big for B but still dont play football. If a B school has to move up they go to 2A. Class A is B and C size schools that play football
They classify from A up to 5A so 5A is actually the smallest number of schools
So 64 A
64 AA
Etc with 5A getting what is left
Then they move schools up or down based on politics and travel
STM will probably be 4A next year which creates a conundrum with Teurlings possibly being in their district. Which the Diocese does not want

Stm had a huge senior class in 2010
Higher academics tougher admissions and the economy have cost stm about 100 kids in 2 years
Stm could possibly win 5A and then move down with almost every key player coming back next year
