So how much has martini lost and kept off?
Posted on 10/1/13 at 3:49 pm to Hulkklogan
Yeh, I like how it requires proper form and full range of motion exercises. I was walking down the stairs at my gym yesterday and almost busted my arse my legs were so wobbly. They'll be back in no time. Some dumbass was scoffing at me while half-squatting twice as much as me.

There's nothing like a deep, arse-to-grass squat imo.

That guy couldn't properly squat 1 plate. Probably had gloves on too.

Yea. I'd rather go arse to ground and do a proper squat than "show off" with more weight. I thank my high school coaches for teaching me the right way to lift all the time.
ETA: Oh and you lose and transform your body until you're happy. I initially thought 10 lbs would be enough for me. But I'm happier in the 15-20 range of weight loss.

This kid at my gym can't wait to get on the rack after me and stack on more plates...only to grunt and yell and maybe get a 30% bend in his knees and drop his arse 6 inches.
He's stronger than me and wants me to know that. And he has never re-racked a weight...ever.

This irritates me so much. I re-rack all of my weights and most people don't.

Man, you guys and your stories of horrible people make me love the fact that I go to the Y. The only complaint I've ever had is one dude who took up the only smith machine for the entire time I was in there. I eventually did my squats on a normal squat rack, but it was the first time I'd ever used that thing instead of the smith machine so I was kind of uncomfortable. Everyone else seems like pretty normal people, who are pretty courteous for the most part

It's a type. They want us to see what they lifted. They probably live with their mom and have her do their laundry and cook for them.

That's where I lift. For the most part it is great.

smith machine
Don't use that.

Keep doing that.

To be honest, the only reason I used it to begin with was to get familiar (comfortable) with the movements of a squat. I'll definitely keep trying to avoid the Smith machine though since I'm quite a bit more comfortable with my squat form.

I use Snap and I don't have a complaint, btw, just started back and
235/219.2/200
Did 2.5 miles run at a 5 mph pace and was spent
I've managed to keep 80 pounds I originally lost off over past 2 1/2 years

You engage a ton more muscles. Using the smith machine is a glorified leg press. Squats rule.

I took your advice and used the squat rack tonight. After my workout I was heading to my car, hopped off the curb in to the street to move quickly so I wouldn't hold up any cars. Almost fell and busted my arse in the middle of the road due to legs being completely useless. I can already tell a difference between how tough it was not using the smith machine based off of 1 set.

That's awesome. And you might be really sore. You just have to push through that. The last thing you'll want to do is more squats...but that's what you have to do to get those wheels feeling better.
Check out stronglifts 5x5. Start with the bar even though it seems light. Concentrate on form and next thing you know you'll be lifting weights you never thought possible.
