"Jones has received several visitors, including Giants director of player development Charles Way.
'Chad has lots of families,' Al Jones said. 'And their roots run deep.'
Among those calling were NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who spoke of Jones' accident Sunday at the annual rookie symposium in Carlsbad, Calif., which Jones would have been attending. 'I told them...'" LINK

OK ... thinking back to seeing the Spirit of Louisiana donated to the NYPD on the TODAY show ALL those years ago, to reading how the Spirit of Louisiana "came home" to help with Katrina ... well, it made me tear up ... and odd how things work with Chad ending up in NY ... maybe NY and NO ARE connected???
Thanks for that link.

The New York Giants have arranged to have Chad Jones transported from the LSU Public Hospital in New Orleans to New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center today as the rookie safety begins his recovery from a serious one-vehicle car accident last week.
The team announced that Jones will be flown by MedJet Assistt of Birmingham, Ala., from Louisiana to New York. There are questions whether or not the third-round draft pick from LSU will be able to continue his football career after he fractured multiple bones in his left leg and required a full day of surgery to save his left foot and ankle.
Jones will require plastic surgery and potentially need additional orthopedic procedures in his recovery.
“Chad has received outstanding medical care from the doctors and nurses in New Orleans since his accident. They've shown great compassion,” Giants vice president of medical services Ronnie Barnes said in the release. “After consulting with our doctors, Chad's doctors at LSU and his family felt like this move to New York was the next logical step in his care and recovery.”
Former running back Charles Way, the team’s director of player development, is going to accompany Jones’ parents – Al and Patti – to New York as well.

All this feel good love is wonderful, and I liked the way the guy hit fearlessly, but what about the actual incident in question?
I see next to nothing about how this happened or why it happened, other than some guy here saying "his lawyer told me this and that".
Is this a simple feel asleep at the wheel tragedy or something worse. Either way, from the look of that car, he's lucky to be alive.

There have been a number of reports saying that Chad turned the wheel to get the vehicle off the trolley car rail.

THIS causes this type of problem? Not from NO ... but if this can cause that much of a problem can't something be done to the trolley car rails? I'm not being ugly ... just a concerned resident of Louisiana that visits NO!

Not that i have ever felt. Where he was driving is both a car lane and a street car track. I've driven on it many times and have never felt in danger. perhaps chad thought he wasnt supposed to be on in them, got confused, and turned off too quickly.

Fletcher Mackel was just on 690AM in NO and stated his opinion that Chad will have a 20% chance of plaing in the pros. I have to agree because it will be atleast 10 months before he can rehab. Also he shattered his femur and tibia as well. :( I will continue to pray for him.
