I'm sure once he signed his contract, his agent as got him another insurance policy that covers him incase of a freak accident. I believe it is standard procedure. If he never play a down or throws a ball professionally, his disability insurance plus what he makes doing whatever he does in the future will allow him to live a better life than most people.

RT @NYPost_Hubbuch: Chad Jones' agent says doctors are optimistic that Jones can return to football as soon as next year (2011).

I have read some of the statements and wanted to give you info that I know. His lawyer has told me that no alcohol or drugs were found on Chad, in Chad, or in his car.

If he doesnt play football again, you think he can pitch in the big leagues?

"Asked what he thought Jones' chances of playing for the Giants in 2011, Arceneaux [his agent] said, 'I'm optimistic. I would like to hope so. He's such a great athlete. I think if anybody could pull it off and come back from this, it would be Chad.'"

"As I've always said, the things that got Chad to this point - his attitude, his discipline, his desire, the things that you can put together in one person's heart and his mind - are all the same tools and abilities that will get him out of it." - Al Jones, Chad Jones' Dad.

From the article -

quote:

Two weeks ago, Jones signed a contract with the Giants for approximately $2 million over four years. The guaranteed money in that contract will be his $825,000 signing bonus, according to Arceneaux.

It's good to know that he's got a little money in the bank. I hope he had medical insurance.

Orel Herscheiser thought so during last year's CWS. LINK Watch and listen from about 2:25 to 2:45 for his comments in this regard.

He repeated his comments during game 3 of the Texas series. See/listen to 8:00 to 8:10 of the same clip.

Got this in my inbox from LSU...

LSU SPORTS INFORMATION

For Immediate Release June 28, 2010

CHAD JONES MAKING PROGRESS IN NEW ORLEANS HOSPITAL

BATON ROUGE – Former LSU standout Chad Jones is alert, resting comfortably and making progress as he remains in the hospital after suffering leg and foot injuries as a result of a car wreck last Friday.

“Chad is extremely alert and he’s in good spirits,” Al Jones, Sr. said on Monday morning. “His leg and foot are looking better. This is going to be a long process but everything is positive right now. We are just beginning the healing process.”

Jones, a third round draft pick of the New York Giants in April, has been surrounded by friends and family since the accident four days ago.

“Chad wants everyone to know how much he appreciates the thoughts and the prayers,” Al Jones, Sr. said. “They are making a difference. It really means so much to him to have the support of the LSU fans and the entire community. The phone calls, e-mails and text messages have really helped lift his spirits.”

Fans that want to send Jones a get-well message can do so on the LSU Football Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lsufootball.
