How much do you spend on food per month?

Prompted by the Food Waste thread, how much money do you spend on food every month (per person in your household). By food I mean everything you eat or drink… My food expenses are second only to my house note, and I don’t think I spend that much on food. Maybe like $50/week/person so about $400-$500/month. Which I think is crazy that I spend over $5,000 a year on food!

Eat and drink easily 200 - 400 a week, pretty much eat out everymeal, and drink on Friday and Saturday nights at around 50-100 per night

Is this just groceries? Or are we adding dining out to the total?
If it's just groceries, then only about $20/week. But that number goes up to about $100/week if you want to add dining out.

i meant groceries, beer, dining out... everything.
i was thinking about it the other day and before last week, I couldn’t remember the last time my wife and I had went eat at a “sit down restaurant” (I mean not subway or something )…

Just out of curiousity what parts you from?
I'll chime in to the OP since I'm asking questions.
I spend less than $200/month for food at home.
But in total I'd say roughly $800-$1,000/month between me and my gf. Large portion of my disposable income is disposed of in bars or restaurants.

Live in unincorporated Lafourche parish (aka south of Thibodaux). And it’s not that we can’t afford it, we just don’t (usually when we do it’s a nicer place, I think last summer we spent the weekend in New Orleans and spend close to $500 at stella, muriels, and a few other places). I love cooking at home and it’s obviously cheaper…

Me and the fiancee go out once a week, and it's usually to nicer places.
Once we get married, I'm going to try to reduce that to every other week, but I'm not sure how well that is going to go over...

You're setting a bad example

According to Mint, my wife and I spent $391 in May on Food. This doesn't include travel food for trips which is in a different budget.

i don't even want to think about how much i spend on drinks
I go to the grocery 2-3 times a month and that averages around 80-100$ a trip.
I eat lunch out for cheap a few times a week.
I would guess around 450-500 for food each month. And i cook at least 3-4 nights a week

Family of 4 here. Wife, 2 teenage sons and myself costs us ~$500 mth. Thats just house groceries. We eat out several times a month as well.

maybe $300-400 or so.
eat out at lunch every single say for free during the week, free breakfast at work, some free dinners. Actually like cooking rather than eating out in my free time, but will still eat out once each weekend on average.

Grocery store only (we rarely eat out)....
100 bucks a week for a family of two...me and the wife.
That = 400 a month.

I eat out quite a bit, so it's probably about $2000-2500 per month, depending on whether there are any special events.

Between groceries and eating out, we probably average about $1600 a month. The majority of that going to various bars and restaurants around BR. That is for two people.

I don't even see how that is possible.

between the wife and i we spend $400-500 a month in groceries. i probably spend another $200 or so eating out. besides taxes and the house, food is probably the biggest expense
