According to Mainieri's presser today (8/17), one or two of those guys are being approached about graduating HS early and enrolling in January.
ETA: 'Those guys' meaning all the commits, not just the ones in the post I actually replied to.

Mot,
I know this is a thread on 2011 commitments, but do you or Adam have any info on the ranking of the recruiting classes after the recent MLB draft?
I am thinking we will be top 5, but probably UF and San Diego will be ahead I heard.
I am wondering if Baseball America or anyone came out with their rankings yet.
TIA

The rankings usually come out mid September.
I think Florida and San Diego will get added boosts from their first round draft picks respectively. If you asked me LSU, Georgia Tech, and Rice all have very very deep classes.

Adam,
Thanks. I know it doesn't really matter, if you are top 5. All of the teams within are about the same. I just like to be number 1.

went to coaches committee meeting last night to see new ball players- everyone there but tyler ross- he was ill.
good looking group!
think that the only three guys that have spots -
are mikie, hanover & austin nola - plenty competition for every other position

Made me feel alot better when PM said he brought Notre Dame to the CWS with 3 of his top 4 pitchers being freshman.
...cause that's what we are gonna have this upcoming year...or close to that.
But the talent on this team is sick.. sick ...nasty sick.

I just saw Joshua Bell play. My brother goes to Marcus High School and just played Jesuit in their Fall league. They play two 5 inning games.
He went 6 for 7 with a wood bat, one of his hits was an absolute laser that hit our center field wall. The ball didn't carry at all, just a straight shot. He hit a bloop single off my brother that he turned into a double by hustling out the box and hustling to 2nd after our right fielder just jogged to the ball. He made a diving catch in left center, then got up and fired a shot to 1st and barely missed a double play.
He's a switch hitter and put balls all over the field. A great 5 tool player and one hell of a hitter

A bunch of the baseball recruits were at the game yesterday, seemed to have a good time.
T. Moore plays shortstop also for Dunham, good glove, good footwork, strong arm. Moore and Johnson can both crank the ball. A. Johnson hits lefthanded, Moore switch hits effectively. Lefty for power, righty still hits well. Moore is definitely the more controlled bat of the two. Moore pitched in Middle school and his Freshman year, but was needed to anchor the infield.

Josh Bell switched to UT. Link below from a TX high school baseball website (not that it's an official source), but he also now appears as a UT commit on his club team's website.
