I have an idea, want to see what some of y'all think
I think the choke and kill lines are both open on the bop stack.
We have mixed and pump what is called a gunk pill to plug severe lost returns before.
Consist of cement, some gel and mixed with diesel fuel instead of water. Probably need to mix 300 to 500 barrels due to the crude that is coming out
Pump 18 pound or so fresh water mud for several hours in advance.
Pump weighted naf spacer ahead of and behind the gunk pill
Pump calcium chloride water at greatest rate possible down one of the choke or kill line to arrive at the same time as the diesel gunk pill from the other line. Hopefully get enough volume to overcome some of the crude flow and mix with the gunk.
The calcium chloride water will force the diesel from the gunk cement mixture causing a flash set.
Probably a total waste of time as an idea, but would work as good as anything they have pumped so far.
As a directional driller, this is certainly not my field of expertise, just an idea.

Even with the choke and kill lines you are only circulating at the well head. I think you still run into the fundamental problem which is that you cannot generate enough hydrostatic head to overcome the well pressure. The only way I could see a "top kill" procedure working is if they could seal off the annulus temporarily and bull head.
