Les isn't the greatest coach in the world, but I'm willing to let him drive a while longer. While it's true that he does some stupid things from time to time that costs him a game, he also does some stupid things from time to time that allow him to win a game we might otherwise have lost (for example, the multiple fourth down attempts vs. UF, and his tendencies to pull successful fake kicks).

Personally I don't care if everyone thinks my coach is an idiot. Hell, I don't care if my coach is an idiot. The question is, idiot or genius, can he win us another championship? And well... I think it's possible. He certainly recruits well enough to do so, which means that even if he ultimately fails the cupboards will be stocked for the next coach. More importantly his tendencies towards mild insanity could steal a game that puts us in the MNC rather than a BCS game (I'd rather flip a coin between 11-1 and 9-3 rather than take 11-2). Plus, he does seem to have the team ready for their bowl games.

For those of you that will inevitably ask, what does the coach have to do to get fired?... I'd say he can have at most 3 losses per year on average. Les has now put himself right on that average. 4 losses next year and I'd replace him. 10-3 just keeps him on the hot seat. 11-2 gets him a little breathing room.

Come on Les! Do us proud in 2010! Win crazy baby!

On average, Les is doing better than Satan did at the five year mark. If Les goes 8-5 next year, his LSU winning percentage will just about match that of Satan at LSU.

And, Les is a high character, high quality human being. Satan is an arse.

Do you really not see the flaw in this argument?

Don't mind the illogical folks on the board who insist on using all the 5 years to prove any statistical point, because of the sole reason, that it is the sum of Les' tenure at LSU and that in the end- w/l records are all that matters.

They will keep on insisting that using the last 2 year statistics is illogical, just because it is arbitrary and secondly it doesn't even follow a trend because 2009 had more wins than 2008.

It is not possible to discuss with such people, who throw back statistics and analyses to prove any point without following and accepting gut feelings as a valid argument.

In general, I do.

I'm not expecting one. I'd be highly surprised if we win another SEC title, let alone a national title.

He's not going to be replaced for losing just 4.

However, when comparing the 5 year mark of Saban and Miles, You have to remember where were the programs positioned in relation to each other. Remember the state of the program when Saban took over after Dinardo vs. the state of the program when Miles took over after Saban.

Miles' management problems is THE PROBLEM.

He inherited a fabulous program, so YEAH he should have winning numbers.

But 2008 and 2009 is a snapshot of Miles.

Does anyone think he'll GROW a sense of priorities and management philosophy? I don't.

I think Miles's liabilities came to the surface and I don't think LSU's program will get better under his leadership.

I want a leader who has a grasp for details and sound organizational skills. That is how LSU FB has suceeded. When we had a detailed and disciplined leader, we thrived: Dietzel, Arnsparger and Benedick Saban. Hat may be popular, but it does not make him a good leader for LSU Football.

What must be done eventually, should be done NOW.

This what Miles supporters have to decide. Is it wins or championships? In my mind it's championships. If Miles keeps finishing behind in the West by 5 and 3 games in a season is this good enough? If Miles keeps losing to top 25 teams and only beats average to bad teams is this enough if he can win 9 games? I am much happier to win a tough SEC than worrying about wins. If you win the SEC West and Title the rest
will take care of itself. In my mind Miles has to prove he can compete over a season with Saban and Meyer. If he can't do that then we are overpaying badly for his services IMO. I would rather take a chance on a Patterson or Peterson than continuously losing the SEC West by 3 to 5 games a season.

This
What is especially disappointing is that Les Miles is rapidly closing in on the DiNardo pattern of being LSU. Only maybe worse even than just Tepper alone.

Those of us that dont like miles, dont want miles, and cant stand to hear him talk are just stating the facts. The man cant coach an sec football team. Look at the numbers they dont lie. The farther we get away from saban the worse the team gets as a whole. Everything else is opinon and everyone has one of those. Just like assholes.

why cant i copy and paste on this damn site?

To the "I dont think LSU's program will get better under his leadership"

Not many coaches out there could get our program much better. I still think we are up there with UF, USC, texas and now alabama. Things may change quick and we might just have texas and alabama up there. ohio state could be argued, but until someone in that conference can challenge them i think they are sitting on easy street.

A lot of people said this early on, but I didn't want to believe it and figured they were just having Saban withdrawals. But as the Saban culture of excellence and focused leadership faded away, the last two seasons and Les's teams and coaching performance speak volumes as to his inability to operate in the SEC football world. He is still a Big 12 coach at OSU. Like his skill players, Les has not grown with the position.

Something tells us all you're not in Kansas anymore, Les.

While I respect your opinion do you really think that we needed another post about Les? Couldn't you have said the same thing in one of the other 1000 posts about him.
