Meanwhile, sources close to the school told ESPN's Shelley Smith on Tuesday night that a deal is being worked on in hopes of bringing longtime offensive coordinator Norm Chow back to USC in the same capacity.

On Wednesday, however, Chow's agent, Don Yee, steadfastly denied that USC has been in talks with Chow.

"Last night's reports are false. There are no negotiations that are occurring. And, as of this morning [Wednesday], we have not received any contact from USC regarding any offers for coach Chow to leave UCLA," Yee told ESPN, adding that no media contacted him about the initial circulation of Chow reports.

Chow had not been directly contacted by USC, either, Yee said. If the Trojans do pursue his client in the immediate future, Yee did not reject the possibility of a deal.

"As his representative, I'd have an obligation to present any proposal to coach Chow but I have nothing to present to him," Yee told ESPN.

I cant believe it went as far as it did

there were reports that Chow and Kiffen really didnt get along all that well when they coached together - I was shocked that he would even be considered by Kiffen given his ego

Not sure whats happening to ESPN. They used to never report anything until it was very very solid. They seem to be rumor mill outlet like the rest of the cumbags out there.

yeah I has pretty shocked when they were reporting it last night, but I figured it was the administration forcing Kiffin to bring on Chow if he wanted the job and would throw NFL money at Chow to get it to happen

The entire premise of the Chow to USC thing is that NC is going to go back and work under a guy who was instrumental in running him from USC.

USC has a ton of money and I guess it could happen...

but I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree. The first real big thing I remember them jumping the gun on was RichRod to Bama right after they canned Shula. It was reported on ESPN one night, all over ESPN.com, then the next day RichRod said, "I woke up, turned on SportsCenter, and found out I was the new Alabama coach. It was news to me!"

b/c they keep hearing it from other people

if enough people say something on a message board, then enough people believe it...it pretty much becomes fact
