A Question about Les Miles and his character

miles' cheerleaders on here still love to talk about miles' character, and how it makes him a better coach than saban
so, i have this question
is miles honorable enough to walk away from the money left on his deal if we go 6-6 or worse next year and he's fired?
doesn't miles understand that having to shell out that $10M or so will hurt this program? making us pay it shows low character and a want to hurt the program
doesn't miles understand that if he's stubborn about the process, the kids he claims to love will be hurt by LSU having to run a less than optimal coaching search? certainly he must realize this
so i ask this to les-tards: how could you defend miles' character if he de-rails this program and then expects to get an 8-figure check as an umbrella for doing this? where is his character if he does this?

Slow, would you walk away from $4 million year? Character smarachter. Les isn't as stupid as many here would like you to believe. He knows he has a good thing here and LSU is literally going to have to run his arse away from here. This is the most money he'll EVER make in football that's for sure.

So you are saying "You dishonor us by staying, so you should leave"....? Not hear to defend, just looking at the psychology of the situation.

Listening to the Trent Johnson show last night made me wish Les was more like him. Seemed to talk with alot of enthusiasm and didn't constantly beat around the bush. Trent was very straight forward and he told it like it was. Miles could learn a thing or two.

I see what you did there.
And no, he won't walk away. He's going to get his money. Even if I'm doing a shitty job where I work, I'm going to work there until they fire me because they pay me good money. Why should he be any different?

that's what happens when you get fired for being a bad coach and running a once proud team into the ground
some cultures value honor more than money
some cultures expect a different route to be taken for this sort of dishonor

oh i expect miles to be paid as long as he's the coach
but if he fails next year, and gets fired, he's owed a lot of money that he never earned

because dealing with picking up garbage or whatever is different than dealing with kids you supposedly care about and made a commitment to. I think its clear Les is more concerned with other things than having a winning football team. He was content to win a national title.

we're 1 inch, 1 broken tackle, and an OT away from 6-7

So, when faced with the same situation, you would walk away from all that money? It's a personal financial decision on his part. He would be foolish to walk away IMO.

Being a 'student of yomi' myself, I disagree with the philosophy.
Les not being Japanese, it's probably not happening anyway.
Interesting argument though. Hmm...

he could never work another day in his life and be fine and send his children to Ivy League schools.

i've turned down sex with hot chicks b/c they were smashed and i didn't earn it

and i understand. i wouldn't criticize miles for it
but
it shows low character

quote:Our society mostly does not demand this kind of sincerity any more. It's all about 'get mine' before anybody else tries to get it from me, it's a Wall St. mentality, capitalism on steroids if you will. Les won't turn down any money that he is owed, you can bank on that.
so i ask this to les-tards: how could you defend miles' character if he de-rails this program and then expects to get an 8-figure check as an umbrella for doing this? where is his character if he does this?

I'm so tired of this crap. That crap doesn't matter. Our record is our record.
You sound like the people saying "Yeah we won the title in 2007, but Miles had two losses."

It's a contract. Perhaps a bad one from LSU's perspective, but this is the deal both parties made. So LSU is stuck with it and it's enforceable. Therefore, if I were Les Miles, I'd want the terms of the contract enforced.
