Mile's logic with considering keeping Crowton?

Hiring position coaches without a change of OC is very curious, and seemingly portends that Miles is giving Crowton 1 more year...
Miles is probably thinking that these are reasons to spare Crowton and to give him one more try:
-1) bad luck in the last few years with Olinemen attrition made for poor performance and protection at a critical spot on the team,
-2) Stud turing out to be a poor Oline coach making that worse,
-3) Bad luck with RP departing the team as QB, and Lee and JJ having little experience and growing too slow into capable QB's (not having a dedicated QB coach exacerbated this issue)
-4) the fact that Crowton had some solid performances, namely the VaTech demolishing, along with the Ohio State NC and the GaTech demolishing all point to his potential (despite the fact that there are many very bad showings in that same timespan)
-5) He may blame the injuries to Scott, Murphy and KW, the 3 returning top RB's in his depth chart as part of the issue down the stetch.
-6) McCarthy being nothing special with the receivers and Gonzales being very solid
The way Miles is loyal to his staff (evidence abounds as he is reluctant to fire unless he has no other choice, witness the Co-DC debacle in 2008), and the way he thinks overall, scare me to think that he will spare Crowton.
I say, despite this seeming solid case, that Crowton goes ASAP. All those dozens of unsuccesful option plays to the short side of the field alone are reason for him to go, as that was the definition of stupid.
Perhaps Crowton stays until after the Bowl, and a behind-the-scenes agreement is in place for Gonzales to then be the OC?
We'll see....

#1 and #3 is the right answer.
GC will be fine.
I find it funny that with better/more expereinced players we arent having this get rid of GC discussion.

So if Miles knows his oline sucks, why not get a new oline coach as well?

Nothing after these two words could possibly make any sense.

You're thinking way too much. He can't fire him because of the buyout. It's not his decision. He is allowed, however, to upgrade his staff.

I agree on keeping Crowton. At this time I don't think it would be good for Jefferson, the freshmen that played and the red shirt freshmen.

Are you serious? LSU can't handle the buyout of an asst coach? How much can it be?
Pathetic!!

he just is keeping a potential scapegoat if 2010 does not live up to expectations.

Mack Brown just got a huge pay raise. Coaches are getting replaced as usual this year despite the dreadful economy and you're telling me LSU CANT fire a offensive coordinator. Thats ridiculous!

Dude, that is nothing in the world of MAJOR college football.
Again, pathetic if true.
P.S. Why in the hell did LSU put itself in that position in the first place?

blame it on having to pay off an upper deck (i doubt the 1st one is paid off yet), a new baseball stadium, a new softball stadium, new scoreboards, and a new basketball practice facility.

Why are you being such an a-hole? All of your posts bash LSU? There are several good Bama fans every year, but I guess every fanbase has their white trash hillbilly
in his 1st season, we had the highest offensive numbers in LSU history

So then it was a knee-jerk reaction. He wasn't leaving after the first year. Why not let it play out and insure sustained success before a big payoff with a guarantee?
Again, not a good play on LSU's part.

I'm not a college football expert, but it appeared to me that there was an effort made this year not to repeat the clusterf*** that went on in our QB position in 08.
To do that, the play book was thinned out and that took away certain options from the OC. I would think that decision was made by Miles or with his approval.
If that's the case and I admit I don't know it is, but how do you then replace the guy you restricted?

so we make our QB learn a 1,000 formations?
JJ is a very, very smart QB. Once he develops a pocket presence, which he has already gotten better at, he will be phenomenal. You give him the play action pass and he succeeds. The playcalling has little to do with our struggles this year. Crowton can't develop QB's and he can't pick 1 system and stay with it. He needs to pick spread or pro-style and stick with it. Also, if you can't run the ball in the SEC, you will struggle
You have to remember Crowton had Dennis Dixon playing like complete dogshit until Chip Kelly took over in 2007

Buyout?
Really? Like we couldn't afford to buy out GC?
