coach, i asked you before the washington game how many touches you anticipate shepard to get and you said 10 to 12...well through the first 4 games he only has 11 carries for almost a 7 yard per carry average...i think most tiger fans will agree that we will be very upset if shepard does not indeed touch the ball the 10 to 12 times you mentioned earlier in the season...i'll hang up & listen

I hope you're not expecting anything coherent in response.

How many times in your opinion should he be touching the ball? I like shep, i dont see why he should get more than 5-6 touches a game myself

les already responded this today supposedly

said there weren't enough touches for shep, and that we had to establish the running game inside

Well uh I can only uh tell you that he will get in when the opportunity presents itself. He is a quality player and uh I can only tell you that he is explosive with the football.

"Russell is a dynamic and unique talent that we are excited to have on our team. This fine young man has showed flashes of brilliance in practice, and in spot duty. Russell, as all freshman are is behind the curve with our playbook and we utilize him as we can. We want to use him more, but at this time he doesn't fit the schemes we want to run, whether that be passing or running the football. There will be opportunities in the future for Russell during his time here at LSU"

Sincerely, Corch Les Miles.

yea, i dont think shep is a 12 to 15 touches a game yet.

I was however upset that he got us inside the 10, and was taken out, and they ran 3 straight passes. Id like to see him finish what he started and get that rhythm.

I have to agree with most. I like Shep and like what he has been doing but there are more important issues at hand that needs addressing before we give or want Shep to get more touches. The Lines need improving and we have to establish a running game most importantly. Now I know Shep has added much needed to our running game but he is young and light and with no blocking help all more touches will do is possibly get him hurt right now.

I would like to see him get a few more touches but to ask for so many at a young stage in his career might be a little much with all the problems at hand. Now if we can get the blocking down and more production out of a run game then giving him more touches would be ok. Fact is coaches know pretty much when RP was here he mostly ran the ball. This is why teams started to contain him more... Same with RS. He will be a gamer and he will be a star IMO but we have bigger fish to fry than worrying about more touches for him in an offense that is having trouble running AND passing.

I know tebow wasnt scrambling when he got hurt. But Shep in space carrying that many times just doesnt cut it in the SEC.. He will get killed.

Is it the near 7 yard per touch average that bothers you, or the fact that we have almost no other running threat to use?

how about b/c he's the only positive of LSU's running game? that he's still able to pick up 7 yards every time he touches the ball when the rest of the team is running for 31 yards vs MSU
