we've regressed every game
Really?
The defense has improved since UW. We saw much more downfield passing this week, which was an improvement. JJ looks much better in the pocket than he did. Chad Jones was whipping boy on this board three weeks ago and now he's the savior who is the only reason Miles isn't getting canned. Lafell has been unbelievable and keeps getting better.
I see plenty of improvement. Now, it's not all good news. The special teams were awful today and our offensive line keeps getting worse. The next time Keiland hits a hole it'll be the first time. Our d-line missed about 50 tackles in the backfield. But to say there is no improvement is not true.

i said that after last week for sure
but then this week happened

and we rushed for 30 yards and we all know les will try to run the ball every game
i did like the 2-3 deep passes JJ connected on, but our rushing has gone from OK to good to bad to horrible

he is awesome, as long as we don't use him on those triple option plays

we're still in our preseason
As a BCS proponent, you know as well as anyone that their is no preseason in CFB.

i meant that only in terms of quality teams
we've played 1 possible team that ends up in the top 25. other than UW, we've likely faced the bottom of the SEC and a so-so sun belt team and we scraped out 3 wins

we've had 4 bad games in a row now
You can tell the difference between smart posters and dumb posters, the dumb posters don't watch any other games outside of LSU and have no clue how good other teams are, they just think LSU should blow up every team they face.
Those days are over.

yes there are. USL is a cupcake
MSU and Vandy are cup cakes
UW prolly isn't

You are 100% correct. But with that said I still find it hard to look past the way LSU is playing. This is a weird year in college, It's hard to figure out how good your team is by how bad they beat there opponents, But you can make judgements based on the way your team actually plays. And right now LSU isn't playing very well.

You don't have to convince me that we're playing like arse right now, but the point these guys are trying to make is that there's really not that many other teams who aren't, too. It's all relative.
That said, though we are 4-0, there are plenty of losses left on the schedule if we continue to play like this. Especially considering we go on the road to Georgia, Bama, and Ole Miss. Easier to play like arse and win at Tiger Stadium than on the road.

How was the defense poor? They got tired in the second half and started giving up long drives at the end of the game, but they've done that it in every game, so that can't be called regression. they did make a huge stop at the end of the game, and forced six turnovers if you count downs as a turnover (which it is).
The D forced 374 yards on 86 plays for a yard/play average of 4.3. 9 of the points allowed are clearly not on the defense (the one yard drive and the safety). Not all-world, granted, but I don't see this as a bad defensive performance at all.
And how you think we "scarped" a 28-point win, I'll just leave without comment.

We're about to enter the meat of our schedule and all we have is mashed potatoes.
Posted on 9/26/09 at 4:07 pm to bayourant
LSU will lose their next 3 games. Book it
Posted on 9/26/09 at 4:07 pm to Hot Carl
i think any LSU fan who has us favored against these teams is delusional at this point (based on matchups or location)
UGA
UF
Bama
Arky
unless Ole Miss wakes up, i think we're better. they've looked like arse too

quote:No they don't. You think they do but you have an unrealistic and slanted viewpoint and you don't give LSU any credit, and you don't give any other teams credit that are not top 5 teams.
and MSU sucks
Yes, MSU is not great, but they don't "suck", and they are in the SEC and they will play everyone hard.

i think the whole point of this thread is that you can't say that any more. You would have called UW a cup cake last saturday morning before they took the field against USC. What if MSU beats Ole Miss or Arkansas? What if Vandy beats Tennessee or Georgia or even plays close with Florida? Maybe its too early to say what these games mean.

we gave up big plays to a 5-9 kid who had to walk on at MSU who is not fast and doesn't have an arm

USL dude
under miles we used to crush our crap competition and go conservative against the good teams (winning some, losing some). now we're scraping out wins against mediocre teams and not crushing anyone

Have you seen Arkansas' defense? And you want to talk about inconsistency, what about UGa?
Though Bama and UF will clearly be favored over LSU.
