I know this is a CRAZY thought, but.....

what are your thoughts on LSU winning all of it regular season games except Florida. Florida goes undefeated up until the SEC title game. We beat them in the title game and go on to play in the BCS title game. Think we could potentially play Florida 3 times this year? Again, crazy, but do you think this is even a remote possibility?

now what would happen if LSU wins every game, and Florida loses the only game vs LSU, and go on to the title game and Florida wins, does LSU play Florida again?
but for this to really happen, everyone else will have to have two losses or three losses.

hmmmm, interesting point. I don't think we get the respect like Florida would get.

Speaking of you stating that this idea is CRAZY..... there are bunch of non-sec contenders this year. I believe that either Texas or Oklahoma will go undefeated, USC will easily destroy their conference if they can have a little QB play. Pryor is probably gonna push for the heisman and beat everyone they play. Therefore i see once again either Ohio State or USC playing in the title game vs someone in the SEC. I would love to see LSU vs FLA, but it is one in a billion.

Completely agree- that's why I think it would be insane if they did play 3 times.

It would be fun, but there's no way in hell they'd let this happen.

Man, the way things have gone these last few years with the BCS anything can happen! I mean I would say a Florida team ranked number 1 the entire season and then loses to LSU in the SEC championship would still be possibly 1-2 in the BCS rankings. Oklahoma was in and they got hammered in their conference championship game.(2003). The key of us getting in too of course would be how far did we drop in the polls in a early October loss to them. I mean we would most probaly be top 5 by then and then just drop a few spots to around 9-10. So then of course we gotta start leap-frogging people. The scenarios would be endless on how the other teams in front of us would do at that time. Anyway, Yes it definitely could happen, but the percentages have got to be microscopic. (about as slim as when we lost to Arkansas). But ohhh the possibilities.

There is a natural bias against rematches. It is also highly unlikely to have two teams from the same conference in the BCS championship game. Your scenario, while theoretically possible, will not happen because of these two trends.
Under your factual scenario, the pollsters will find a way to get the best non-SEC team (or the most popular, depending on your general view of the polls) into a game against the winner of the SEC-CG.
I never like to say never, but I'm saying that we're never going to play Florida three times in a season. Likewise, we're never going to play UGA or Tennessee, the other two candidates for your scenario, three times in a season.

And again we're talking CRAZY thoughts. The pollsters couldn't help but do it if your USC s and Ou's and Texas's all have 2 losses. SEC teams with 1 loss no matter when they lose are ALWAYS a strong possibility of being 1-2. But man it sure sucked for Auburn the year they went undefeated

Same scenario that was stated on the CBS College Football special a week ago. Except LSU would beat Florida in the regular season and loose to them in the SECCG. Then play for the BCS title.

It is, as is both teams losing all their regular season games cep one.

USC will easily destroy their conference if they can have a little QB play.

Personally, I don't think this scenario is that unlikely, but it definitely a LONG shot. The problem is getting a non-SEC Champion Florida team in the National Championship Game, AND overcoming the double rematch issue. Having us split the earlier games actually makes this easier than a simple rematch scenario (like OSU-Michigan in '06). I think Florida in this scenario would beat out any non-BCS team except possibly Utah or Boise State, and any 1-loss BCS team that also did not win its conference (like Kansas in '07). So we would need Boise and Utah to stumble somewhere along the way, SC to either lose two or lose only one to a team that wins the Pac 10 outright with a couple of OOC losses, ditto for Ohio State, and likely an upset in the Big 12 Championship Game. That's fairly unlikely to all occur in one season, but weirdness of some sort is fairly commonplace by season's end.

This scernario is all but a cinch if everyone else has two losses like the 2007 campaign. That is the only way I see it happening.

It has been stated and i truely believe that a team that does not win their conference will not play for a national championship. Would love to see it... but after oklahoma made it in 2003 they pretty much said that it would never happen again. Pollsters wont allow it.

In fact, the talking head actually predicted this as the MNC game.
