Actually the Athletics Program of the Decade, which is similar to a thread of a couple of days ago following the 9th place finish of LSU in the overall athletic standings in the NCAA. Interesing quote:

LSU's recent national championship in baseball raises an intriguing question in these slow, summer months: By this time next year, will LSU or Florida be viewed as the most successful SEC athletics department of the decade?
quote:
No such official title exists, of course. But based on national and SEC success, particularly in the most prominent sports, Florida and LSU have been the cream of the crop in the SEC since 2000.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it was a womens bowling NC. Not that thier is anything wrong with that.
What I find funny is that Vandy and alaBAMA have the same number of NC's this decade!

I'm kind of surprised Florida doesn't have more success in any of the "minor" sports...
on the other hand, they ARE higher ranked in the Director's Cup annually, so they do perform, they just don't have the championships to show for it.
We do!

It's not even close:
LSU is either first or second in the four major sports.
Florida = not relevant in baseball or w omen's basketball.

LSU's 13 titles, 4 in major sports, trumps anyone else.

That makes me laugh as well, considering that bowling is thought of as a poor man's hobby/sport and Vandy people can be rather snobbish at times (not as bad as the weenies, though).

This raises and interesting question. Should LSU concentrate more on its bowling program to be more dominant in the SEC? We are currently ranked #62 in the nation in Men's Bowling. Not acceptable.

what blew me away was that if you take into account the NCAA does not recognize a football champ Alabama's men have NEVER won a title in ANY sport.

As much as I enjoy college baseball, college basketball would be considered much more of a major sport by the majority of those following college athletics. If only the women's basketball or softball team had gotten it done once in the 2000's.....

Interesting Article
Since they counted Auburn's non-NCAA-awarded equestrian championships, they should have also counted LSU's weightlifting titles from the late 1940s.
