First of all thanks to all of y'all...you GET IT.
It is about culture. I was the first generation of my family born outside La.(Houston) and I must tell you that I take much more pride in growing up in La. and attending LSU than being a native texan. Of course my ancestors had an interesting past(direct Laffite decendent) and we traced our roots back to Tartas France(around Bordeaux) in the 1630's so there is much more of my history there than some maybe. People can dog on Louisiana if they wish , but it is a state that is truly like no other in the union. Politicians are corrupt everywhere , La. is just less transparent about it....kudos to this MJ's lonely glove dude who posted this :
BRILLIANT!!!!!!

It's well known that the areas outside of New Orleans in Louisiana hate and always have hated New Orleans. You think your hatred is a novelty? You hate our culture (because you have none), you hate our religion (because you are a KKK anti-Catholic), you hate our food (because yours is BBQ garbage), you hate our architecture (because yours is nothing more than an outhouse), you hate our history (because you have none), you hate our music (because you would rather talk about your car breaking down in a song), you hate that we are important internationally (and you are not), you hate New Orleans, but without us, you have a city-less, profitless state. Who do you think pays for your roads? That's right - New Orleans. #2 port in the world and center of the American petro-chemical industry, as well as refiner of 40% of America's gasoline. Go back to Shreveport or whatever cultureless corner you come from. You might as well be from Montgomery, AL for all I care.
BRILLIANT!!!!!!

This is one thing I would have to disagree with. Texas does have quite a bit of History.

I find the saying more true all the time. I brought four of my friends to a place called Cajun Cafe on the Bayou in St. Pete, FL and introduced them to Cajun cooking and hospitality(the owners from Thibadoux ..sp?) and all they could do was say wow and I watched the CWS with 3 Texas fans and one neutral and after the game one come back my neutral buddy became a LSU lifer and thinks Texas fans are all arrogant since he only knows 3. I also turned my wife, mother in law and father in law into LSU fans just by watching a couple football, basketball, then baseball games and sharing our food and love with them.
GOD THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME AN LSU TIGER!!!!

Be original, you got this from Patton with George C. Scott. So you don't have to say to your grandchild that I shoveled _ _ _ _ in Louisiana.

Because they will not give this post a sticky it will not go away. All the Texas fans want it to go away but because we love our state and our Flagship University LSU we will not let it go away. So if anyone feels offended so be it, you will get over it but this is about us and we are proud to say that We Are Louisiana, We Are LSU from Louisiana!
PS: Administers give this a sticky it deserves one. Thanks for allowing us to say what we believe in when the time arises. We may say some things that are not warrented but for the most part it is all done in fun and love for our great State and University!

Check out the tune "Lake Charles" on Lucinda William's "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" --
"He had a reason to get back to Lake Charles
He used to talk about it
He'd just go on and on
He always said Louisana
Was where he felt at home
He was born in Nacogdoches
That's in East Texas
Not far from the border
But he liked to tell everybody
He was from Lake Charles"
