QB recruits and Gary Crowton

When Crowton was hired, I thought we were going after pure, running qbs.
Now, after getting Lee (true, not signed, also a plays in spread in hs) and Garrett, it seems like I have just fooled myself.
Does Crowton look for passers first, then if they can run....great?
I think that there are so many variations of a spread that you don't have to have a Tebow or Pat White to run this offense.
You can have a 4.8 forty QB with speedies all around him and effectively run the spread as long as he can place the ball where it needs to be to back off the linebackers/safeties.
But if a guy can run.....all the better; but it is not paramount.

Dude, seriously. Where do you see the doubt in Crowton in this sentence.
I was saying that I misunderstood what the spread was and what it required when it came out.
There are some figs on the Rant that just want to bitch without reading the whole post.

To me your post is saying "why can't we get QBs that run better throw". I know thats not what you mean but thats what I think while reading your post.
Isn't the primary use for a QB throwing the ball to our WRs and RBs.

A little fyi, if you continue down this streak sfp is gonna go off on you.

You need to do a little more research on what Crowton does... He built his resume working with drop back QBs with multiple looks and formations while spreading the field and creating mismatches. He then showed how well he could adapt given whatever talent at his disposal when given an athletic QB

I think Rattay threw for over 500 yards against Neb., even the home team gave him an ovation after the game........

NFL Trendsetter 2000
Take a look at that link. He took 3 journeymen QBs (due to injuries), a do-nothing RB, and a bunch of no-name WRs and finished 2nd in the NFL in passing yards in 1999.
Crowton works with what he's got. It would be tough to say he's tied to any one style of offense.

it's tough to say his offense was anything but tied to running a spread until oregon (where he mainly ran spread with a lil spread option)
only at LSU where miles demands i-form, up the gut running, has there really been a change

Tim Rattay averaged 386.2yards per game. In 1998, he broke school records as a senior with 4,943 yards and 46 touchdowns to finish second in NCAA history in yardage.
