in Baton Rouge.

We had five couples in a chefs table at Ruffino's.

Wonderful. Great company, great food, great wine and great after dinner cocktails.

If you haven't done this I think now is time. Very well kept secret in BR. I've done it twice

I have seen Ruffino's cuffed around a bit on this board, I just ignore it as people who are in over their heads. Ruffino's has as consistently impeccable food & service as any restaurant I have ever been in.

You want a no fail meal? I know where to go.

I have been there many times. The charateristic that make Ruffino's work better than others is every emoployee has the same goal, to create the greatest dining experience for each guest everytime.

What is a chef's table?

Are you speaking of Ruffino's, because that place is not a secret.

If you are speaking of this "chef's table" thing, I'll wait to hear what you mean.

To all the other posters, I agree -- Ruffino's is top notch, every time you go.

I had an employee who moonlighted as a waiter at Ruffino's, the test he had to pass looked like a bar exam.

HAHA the test you only have to get 65% on. I waited there for about a year.

was it the old Hooters menu test...open the menu, place on nearest chair, and sit on menu...if I can't see the menu anymore, you fail the test.

No, the Hooters test you only have to get a 36 on, 36C I believe. This test was mostly specific to Ruffino's dishes and a lot of general food knowledge.

Ruffino's specials always seem to impress me. The Spring Rolls that they have had lately have been extremely tasteful, as well as, the buffalo oysters.

I've been twice and walked away dissapointed both times.

I will try the chef's table, however.

I have only been once....a few years ago.

My dad hated it...my mom was "unimpressed"...I thought it was pretty good to average...

It's been a while so I would have to go back and try it again.

How much is the chef's table per person? Is a certain number of people required.

Was home in N.O. earlier tonight at Emeril's and left with about 4 tables seated, arrived in B.R. to meet my girlfriend at Ruffino's and had to wait 30 minutes for a good table on a Tuesday night. The most fun I've had in a while. Ask for Nathan and I'm sure your Mom and Dad will not complain next time.

Under Osso Bucco does the test say A/ made with veal B/ made with pork c/ made with mandas silicon sausage.

and I'm told b is the correct answer.

I have been there several times during my time in Baton Rouge. Never a disappointing night. Great management and wait staff. The bartenders are great as well. I recommend "Monday Funday" as the staff affectionately calls it. It is a fun but relaxing atmosphere for Monday nights. The blond bartender that works Mondays is smoking hot and she does roller derby so she has a little sass to her. Will try to make it again this Monday.

Oh yeah the answer is A: Made with veal.

I know the correct answer, you know the correct answer but someone on this board will call us liars and swear we can't taste the difference between veal and pork shanks not to mention they look different.

Best osso bucco in BR and only made on Thursdays.
