I really wish Jarrett Lee didn't play like a deer in headlights in games because just watching the quarterbacks throw in practice, JL is head and shoulders a better passer than anyone on the team. He has better mechanics and throws a better ball than Jefferson. If he wasn't such a head case like Josh Booty, he could have been a great SEC quarterback, definitely has the talent to be one.

Let's give Lee more time before we compare him to Booty

Its obvious the kid has all the tools. Just never looked confident at all. Thats what set Jefferson apart. In the peach bowl he looked calm even when under pressure. He might not have the arm that Lee does but he showed he was a much much more mature player than Lee.

Sometimes being thrown into the spotlight can ruin a player. But again we shouldn't throw the towel in on Lee yet. Still aggravates me how many morons booed the guy. Don't get me wrong it was rough at times, but booing? Unacceptable.

yeah he just seems very nervous when he's in there. the thing is, i think that if the lsu fan base had supported him, instead of booing him, then he might not have screwed up as much as he did. playing scared like that is no way to have success. it really was ridiculous how people could boo a freshman quarterback that was trying to do his best. i'm not giving up on him. i'm glad that we have a guy as talented as he is, and with some solid experience to be able to come in if anything were to happen to JJ.

50% of what makes a good QB is the ability to go thru the progressions and reading the defense. JL was horrible at those 2 sklls last yr, so he had a horrible yr. plus JL was always too afraid to run.

Just b/c JL has nice form and can get rid of the ball in a hurry with good zip, doesnt make him better at passing than JJ.

As bad and as reckless as Josh Booty was, I would take him over Lee any day of the week. Booty was a hot head who was known for calling his own number (example: Drawing up his own play for the UAB game, him keeping it instead of passing to wide open man on the final play of the Alabama game in Tuscalosa, etc.) I'm fine with a kid wanting to win the game. Lee, I just don't see it. Everytime he throws his pick 6...I just see an, "Awh Shucks" look from his face. He doesn't seem to have that competitive fire in his eyes...the determenation to win. Once he got down (and the fans got down on him), he seemed to just give up IMHO.

You people amaze me the kid was a redshirt freshman!!He was thrown into the fire and had many mental errors but to write him off Jeez. If Peyton manning had fans like us his first year at Indy where he had like 20 int's he'd probably be with Ryan Leaf right now coaching at some high school. Not that i'm saying Lee will be Peyton Manning but i'm hoping he's learned something and i do believe before Jared leaves LSU he will have won some games for us.

you see a aw shucks look on his face? man you are seeing the complete opposite of me. i saw a kid who beared the weight of one of the premier college football teams in the country. expectation were high and he suffered growing pains, now most want to throw him to the wolves. talk about unfair, the way some of you are treating this kid is outrageous.

There's been a number of NFL QBs who have had the "deer in the headlights" look their first year....including some hall of famers like Bradshaw and Elway....so Im not gonna give up on JL because he wasnt mentally prepared as a RS freshman. However...JJ seems to have "it"...and something strange is gonna have to happen to take the starting job from him.

Of course I do hope RS gets a number of snaps also. The kid is a superstar...period.

Fixed it for you. Seriously, JL was given his opportunity, just like Mallory and Peveto. The results weren't great, and Miles made changes.

Guess many don't remember the 5 Ints. thrown by Matt Mauck in the Spring game? How soon people forget. You haven't seen the last of Lee, an with QB's, this is a good thing.

Judging a kids whole career after playing one season, RS frosh season is pretty idiotic. As most rational people will do, judge JL after he has at least one more year of experience under his belt.

Dude if you think JL has better mechanics than JJ, then you are no QB expert. JL has some of the worst habits of any coached college QB I've seen in quite a while. His footwork is horrible and the main reason for most of his problems leading him to throw off his back foot time and time again.

JJ has a long release, JL has a shorter release.

but JL throws off his backfoot and "arms" it, and JJ steps into his throws.

Guess you missed the Auburn and Troy games. And what did he do the very next possession after opening the UGA game with a pick 6?

I hate our stupid fans...
