I'm not the one to give the fool-proof method for cooking the shrimp, but this is the best cocktail sauce I've ever had:
Antoine's Cocktail Sauce
Cocktail Sauce
4 Tbsp horseradish
1/2 cup Vinaigrette Sauce (recipe follows)
3 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
2 cups ketchup
1 Tbs Tabasco sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
Vinaigrette Sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup vinegar
1/4 tsp finely ground white pepper
1 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp dry powdered mustard
Procedure for Cocktail Sauce
1. Blend all ingredients together and chill. Makes 3 cups.
Procedure for Vinaigrette Sauce
1. Put all ingredients into a bottle and shake to mix. Store at room temperature. Makes 1 1/2 cups.

I prefer it start with fresh shell on shrimp.
In a pot. Bring to a boil water & half a light beer.
Add Zatarain’s Crab & Shrimp Boil in the bag, Follow the directions on the box and you can not go wrong
Dehead and peel the shrimp leaving just the “fan tail” on for presentation. Get you a nice wide mouth glass, in the bottom place a “leaf lettuce” topped with some cocktail sauce (or in metal bullet). on the rim place a lemon wedge and then the shrimp dangling off the rim.
Place the glass on fancy plate lines with nice linen.
