frick it, i want this discussed...

why does no one care about this at all? because UGA got a "good draw" in the 6/11 match up? because the ND/Miami/Bama shite is more dramatic?

this is a big deal and just makes absolutely no sense. way more evidence that the committee is just making shite up as they go. do the conference championship games matter or not? is the only thing that matters how strong your losses are?

some years the CCGs matter, some they dont? you can't move uga ahead of ohio state, because then you have to adjust bama for losing? what's the story?

uga's resume is better than ohio state's. there's really no arguing that. nobody cares cause it's uga and ohio state?

im just curious at the complete and total lack of interest in what i find to be a very intriguing talking point.

I don't think Ohio State would care if they were 3?

It's a good point. Georgia should be 2 with 4 top 25 wins including avenging their loss and beat Texas by a larger margin.

We need to get rid of the committee and just use a suite of computer models to smooth out any odd stuff a single model might produce.

Why does it matter?

Seems UGA got the better draw with winner of Tulane/Ole Miss

This

And arguing 2 vs 3 isn’t really compelling

And your draw is actually easier facing Ole Miss than either Bama or Oklahoma.

Quit bitching.

‘Extra game shouldn’t hurt you’ mantra is way overplayed. It’s like they did this to help justify Bama. It doesn’t make sense when you’re comparing teams that both played the extra game. UGA and Ohio State played the same number of games with the same record. UGA has a harder schedule, better wins, negated their lone loss by beating the same team, and is conference champions. UGA should be #2. If it was still BCS the Natty matchup would be obvious: Indiana v UGA

Ohio states defense is a monster. Ranked 1 all along and lost a slugfest v #2 who is elite on both sides of the ball. Take the logos off the table and that 1 v 2 game that ends a classic always results in the ranking going like this.

I don’t think they’d care either, but it’s absolutely bizarre to me to have a 12-1 conference champion in the SEC behind an 12-1 conference runner-up. Harder SOS.

Georgia has 4 top 25 wins and I believe OSU has 2. 3 top 15 wins to 1. 2 top 10 wins to 0.

Greater margin of victory over the same opponent.

It makes no sense whatsoever.

I think it worked out fine for us, but it really makes no sense.

The committee applying their logic evenly should matter.

I'd agree in general but at the end of the day, actually think UGA is in a good spot with matchups.

That is what I was expecting for the national championship game.

I mean honestly outside of Georgia why should we care?

I agree. Bama should have been dropped 2 spots just like OSU and BYU would have been in this scenario.

Its not being discussed because it doesn't really matter. UGA gets the easier match up and increases their chances of avoiding a legitimate talent equated match up against Ohio State. If UGA is as good as some people think they it shouldn't matter who is in front of them or where they are seeded.

There is perfectly reasonable logic that tells you if 1&2 play its entirely possible the loser should be number 2 and the winner number 1.

I think if UGA hadn't already played Bama then you might have jumped them. I feel like the committee probably was thinking "UGA isn't actually this much better than Bama, Bama is just really banged up. Bama beat them at home the first time". And I kind of get that, but those two teams have taken separate trajectories since then.

Probably a lack of interest because it's not really a big deal or intriguing like you think it is.

I think they are looking at year long results not just top 25 games. UGA looked shaky early in the year so that is potentially counting

I think this would have weighed in more if UGA and OSU were on the 4/5 lines as opposed to 2/3.

OSU's metrics are far better in response to the resume.

I would have had UGA 2 and OSU 3 myself because UGA won a major conference (the deepest conference for sure) and OSU just lost a game. I think OSU got the tougher draw and it sounds like you agree so in a way maybe giving UGA the #3 seed was giving them the more favorable draw and the # next to their name didn't matter?

Against the #28 SOS and a total of 4 teams out of 13 they played were even in the top 50 of total offense:
#8 Indiana, #37 Ohio, #39 Washington, and #43 Rutgers. They only played 3 teams that rank top 50 in scoring offense: #4 Indiana, #22 Washington, #37 Penn State

Just for the sake of comparison, Georgia played 3 teams in the top 15 of Total Offense alone (#3 Ole Miss, #4 Tennessee, and #12 Georgia Tech) and 5 in Scoring (#7 Tennessee, #11 Ole Miss, #25 Georgia Tech, #43 Marshall, and #45 Miss State)
