Somalia immigrants in Minnesota used a random name generator to create fake names of children to get paid
- Somali would create nonprofits
- Go register with the Secretary of State's office, create a nonprofit
- Then filed to join the food program
- The day after that, they were claiming to feed 5,000 children a day. The children didn't exist
- The created spreadsheets where they just used a random name generator to make up names of non-existent children to show to the state. ‘We really are feeding all these kids,’ but the kids didn't exist, the food didn't exist
“They just send invoices without bothering the buy food or actually feed kids — and the government, state government was just paying the invoices, no questions asked”

Does this being fake change the data about 1 in 5 kids in the US goes hungry?
Because I would imagine the number of state invoices being paid would give the number of kids needing food assistance, and the birth records would provide the number of actual kids. If the first list is being made up out of thin air, then I believe that statistic that is constantly provided for how our country is failing its children may not be quite as bad.
