There needs to be obvious changes.
We need a commissioner to help with the new generation.

Easy steps to fix:
1. Eliminate yearly transfers. Every player can get one free transfer. After that, they need to sit out a year.

2. To gain NIL, the players need to sign at least a 2 year deal with their current school or must repay in full.

3. Power 4 and group of 5 separate and have their own playoffs for two different national championships. More football for us and a better chance for group of 5 teams to earn their own title.

4. Each power 4 conference has 16 teams per conference. 4 team pods per conference.

5. Each conference can play 9 conference games and 3 OOF games.

6. At end of regular season, the pod winners advance to the conference finals. Each conference will have 4 teams fighting to represent their conference in the final 4 of playoffs. (Basically a 16 team playoff)

The final four will include each power 4 conference champion. No at large bids. Win your conference or you can’t compete for national champ. Puts importance back on winning your conference.

With this, it also doesn’t turn into an eye test for best team, or the need to schedule weak OOC games. Only way to make your conference tournament is to win your pod.

For scheduling purposes. The season starts a week earlier. Conference tournaments start thanksgiving weekend and conclude during typical conference championships.

First round of final 4 is Dec 20ish and national championship on New Year’s Day.

Portal opens up Jan 3rd and only one NSD which will be Feb. that prevents coaches from leaving their team early as well.

That would be even worse than the current playoff system.

You’re going to have some 4 team pods in the SEC and B1G being completely stacked, while there’s pods in the ACC and Big 12 that are consistently putting 4+ loss teams in the playoff field.

If you’re not the best in your POD or your conference, then how can you play for the national championship?

For example the sec pods would be:

Pod east:
Tennessee
Alabama
Auburn
Vandy

Pod South
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss st
Texas atm

Pod southeast
Uga
Florida
Kentucky
South Carolina

Pod west:
Texas
Oklahoma
Missouri
Arkansas

Pod winners this year:
Texas atm
Bama
Oklahoma
Uga

So a final 4 bracket with those teams to get to the national final 4.

This year the national representatives would be:

SEC- UGA
Big 10- Indiana
Big 12- Texas tech
ACC- Miami

The matchups:
Uga vs Texas tech
Indiana vs Miami

Great final 4 to me.

We took the best sport in the world and butchered it into 1000 pieces. Why? God only knows, but somebody stood to make a lot of money because of it.

College football was special man. But you get what you incentivize. NIL, eventual 32 team playoffs, giant conferences that make no geographical sense? This was the most nonsensical haphazard wrecking ball to the best sport in the world.

There should be an investigation behind why it hand who was behind it.

Hell no.
First two points are all that’s needed.

So you like watching Tulane, James Madison and Boise get blown out instead of watching those teams compete for their own title?

The courts won't allow 1 and 2.

I don’t think you’re understanding how bad that would be for the G5. It would destroy the interest in their programs. They deserve one spot for the best G5 team. I don’t want NCAA turning into the damn NFL with the AFC(SEC) and NFC(BIG10) which that model would lead towards.

It incentivizes more group of 5 teams to take it serious instead of being the token sacrifice to the big boys. They still get OOC checks for games and their own televised playoff games and they play during times when no other football is being played.

And in my model there are no favorites to SEC or Big 10. The opposite actually, I’m giving each of power 4 champion a seat at table every year. No SEC or Big 10 bias to get more teams to table.

This model has teams actually win championships with on field performance instead of bullshite eye test or mulligans.

Win your conference games to win your pod, win your conference. If you can’t do that then you don’t move on. You’re clearly not the best team. No eye test, no well this team won but they have a better loss bullshite

College football fans…

We are tired of the same teams playing for the title…

One year where teams get snubbed

we NEeD tHE BlUeBLOodS!!11!1

Where you bitching in 2015 when Alabama beat the breaks off Michigan State?

If you want to separate the group and power conference teams then power teams shouldn’t be allowed to play group teams.

I know you may not believe this but schools can manage without the OOC paychecks that you seem to think is the only thing keeping teams afloat.

The ACC fumbled this year by having Duke play Virginia. If they were smart they would have had the 2 top seeded in the rankings play for the conference title as a tiebreaker.

Now do ACC and Big 12 pods and see how absolutely dog shite some of those pods will be. The G5 teams that make the playoffs under the current format would beat the crap out of some of those pod winners.

Cal, Stanford, SMU, and some lucky long time ACC member in the eastern timezone

So by your logic Miami shouldn’t be in the playoffs since they didn’t win their conference….and since Tulane beat Duke….which won their conference then the American Conference should now be considered a power conference?
