St. Cecilia and Cathedral Carmel are both good schools.

Maybe but the ROI doesn’t math if you live in south Laffy and can use public. OP is spending >$20,000/year and it’s only going to increase. Laffy parish has some good public schools.

I hear good things about Cathedral. What area do you live in?

My kids went to John Paul the Meh Academy and (unsurprisingly) we got so-so results.

Cathedral is a great school. My kids are there now. We love it. Location is a little tough for us specifically but they have a bus service which was a godsend

Academics wise, you can't go wrong with Cathedral, Fatima, or St. Cecilia. I didn't have that type of money when my kids were younger and we lived in Lafayette so I sent my daughter to Woodvale and got her in the gifted program eventually which was a good move.

We ended up moving to Houston to a good public school.

Cathedral or Fatima. Both my kids attended St Cecilia great school, great environment but speaking from our experience and some others academically they are a good bit behind the others. Many parents complained about kids being very behind when moving on to high school. We had a friend that taught there and she would encourage parents to switch if they planned on attending STM or Teurlings. My kids are older 21 and 17 so maybe it’s gotten better.

Currently have 4 kids at John Paul the Great Academy, but just got notice that tuition is going up another 5% next year (this is after a 9% increase last year and a 5% the year before).

Even if tuition is the same, you will do muck better for your kids getting out of JPG.

A little shocked at this, Education is very cheap in Lafayette

Both of my kids went to Cathedral. One moved on to Teurlings, the other to STM. Both were valedictorians (or whatever each of them called it) when they finished high school.. Fatima just had a better sports program, lots of travel ball moms and dads. I’m sure its education was about the same.

My daughter went to Catholic school about three years ago and graduated and tuition always went up about five or 6% every year so I don’t think it’s just John Paul the great.
If you’re in Lafayette, there’s also Pius and Fatima and Saint Cecilia to look at.

Im in Houston now but a lot of my friends from Lafayette are sending their kids to St. Leo. It's cheaper than the two stated earlier and has a solid academic reputation. Tuition and fees are around $5500. Can also take HS level classes during 8th grade year if you intend on sending your kids to Tuerlings. St Geneiveve offers a similar experience and is $6500 but the middle school is right next to Tuerlings campus.

The elementary campus is in the hood but it's still a decent school.

This is complete BS.

St. Cecilia students are doing just fine academically at STM and Teurlings. It’s a smaller school, yes, but academically fine.

OP, i’m sure Cathedral is fine as a school, as-is Fatima if you want the big school experience.
