Except regime change on behalf of Exxon and ConocoPhillips.

I think we’re definitely using this as an excuse to limit the influence of Russia/China in South America. Destroying established drug routes/deep state money is a secondary benefit.
Which I support.
Which I support.

How is cheaper gas and access the world’s largest oil reserves not in the concrete benefit of the United States?

Trump is a big believe in the Monroe Doctrine. I believe he has a painting of Monroe in the Oval Office.

No link needed. It’s common sense. It’s about oil. This script is tired.
Drug boats are the new weapons of mass destruction

Doesn’t Congress decide what wars we are distracted by?
Or is he saying his war department won’t attack fishermen without congressional approval?
Oh. Too late.

As he should be. Whether incompetency or intentional, China should have never been allowed to operate as they have been in the region.

doubt
How much oil does Venezuela have?
Venezuela has roughly 17 percent of the world’s known oil reserves, or more than 300 billion barrels, according to the Oil & Gas Journal, an industry publication. In other words, that’s how much oil experts believe could be extracted from the country’s territory.
To put that in context, the United States, the world’s top oil producer, has an estimated 81 billion barrels of proven reserves.
Venezuela pumped almost 5 percent of the world’s oil in 1997, but years of mismanagement, underinvestment and U.S. sanctions have squeezed output. The difficulty of extracting the country’s tar-like oil has also complicated matters.
The United States used to buy most of Venezuela’s oil, but that trade stopped in 2019 after the first Trump administration imposed sanctions on the country’s state-owned oil company, Petróleos de Venezuela. Shipments to the United States resumed in 2023, but volumes have remained low. Most of Venezuela’s crude now flows to China.

Well, the longer Maduro remains in Caracas, the more this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Maduro stays = self fulfilling prophecy
Maduro leaves = regime change

Maduro leaves = regime change

Hegseth was clear. We don’t give a shite about the country. We claimed we did in Iraq. The people want regime change? Take it. In exchange we get access to the oil. Simple as that.

So Trump’s declarations that Venezuelan air space was closed and the massive flotilla placed in the Caribbean is simply to play whack-a-mole with drug running speed boats?

It’s a siege. And it will work.

Ah yes, a bureaucrat engaged in doublespeak. Its a good thing I have y'all around to figure out which way the wind is blowing.
Its all about regime change and resources. Same as it was in the middle east. The deep state always wins.
