Pope Leo is demanding we welcome illegal immigrants. I pray POTUS Trump ships the next 25,000 to the Vatican.

Pope Leo wants to see illegal immigrants welcomed into your domain.

Pontifical Swiss Guard says, "Bring it"!!

This gaslighting always ends up bad. Nothing will happen to the Pope and they will shut it down when it gets out of control. I say go for it.

Of course he does.

Funny... I must have missed the news coverage of the Vatican tearing down the 35+ foot walls that surround it and the firing of the Swiss Guards.

The Pope lives in a guarded home with walls and rides in a bullet proof car.

But wants to tell everyone else to live with third world idiots who want to kill us.

This thread is a lie. Pope's public message is: manage your international borders as you see fit but treat the illegal aliens humanely and without irrational motives based on fear. It is right there in the article that you linked.

Stop making threads that distort the Truth so that you can encourage yet another Tigerdroppings Political Talk thread that devolves into an orgy of false attacks on the Pope and the Catholic Church. That is something that Satan himself would like for you to do.

Why would anybody want to do the work of the Devil here on PT?

In the article the Pope is telling people not to be afraid of Muslim immigrants. Yet he hasn’t opened up the Vatican coffers to financially support them.

He mentions proudly that he visited Lebanon, and boasted that Christians and Muslims get along great there.

It’s noticeable that he hasn’t visited Nigeria to save lives of Christians. Wonder why not?

The USA re-elects a very strong pro-USA POTUS by the name of Donald Trump. The old guard everywhere responds. The catholic cardinals even elect an American catholic to run their show. Of course it was not a coincidence.

Please, do not even get me started about how I really feel about Leo and his remarks.

Pope has already spoken out against violence in Nigeria. He may visit there or not, but he has addressed the matter, as have many Protestant pastors.

You seem to harbor some kind of irrational dislike for people like Pope Leo. Pope Leo is not going to sound like Donald Trump. Leo is from the South side of Chicago, and that area is very poor and very Democrat.

I would like it if the Pope were more to my side of the political spectrum but Pope Leo isn't. He has said that a country has the right to manage its international borders as they see fit, as long as they treat people humanely. That's fair, in my book. I see no reason for anybody to get angry about that particular opinion.

We are training our ICE personnel to treat people humanely, and we are supervising and managing them to ensure their compliance with that policy. That is the Official Position of the USA and of POTUS.

If somebody's feelings are hurt because they are subjected to a lawful and humane ICE activity, that is not Inhumane treatment. Let's be strong and tell people loudly that hurt feelings is not equal to inhumane treatment.

Oh, I feel much better now. He spoke out against it, maybe wrote a sternly worded letter. Sounds very Republican of him. He’ll go to Lebanon, boast about how chummy Christians and Muslims are there, and scold us for not following that example.

At the same time he’s chiding others for not being good Christians by welcoming foreigners into their country, and supporting them financially moreso than their own citizens.

Instead of moving Muslims all around and changing population dynamics just to give them a better life, maybe the Catholic Church could just fork out the money to improve life in those countries so they could stay?

Leo will also tell you the priests and altar boy issues are overblown. What a saint this man is.

please read what Pope Leo has actually said about immigrants and not just a CNN spin piece.

1- He is against any war so that is why he has urged Trump not to put boots on ground in Venezuela
2- He has affirmed the Catholic's church stance on immigration. Countries have the right and should control their borders. There should not be open borders. However immigrants should be treated with care and respect and not neglected. Trump stopping immigrations or sending them back as they are illegal is in line with this teaching.

Nothing the Catholic Church has said/believes would stop controlling the boards.

Thanks for your interest in the activities and speeches of Pope Leo and your interest in the charitable activities of the Catholic Church.

I understand that you are upset that these words and activities do not perfectly align with how you think that they should be doing things.

Much like the Sedition 6, his suggestion or statement is meant to make a very large percentage of the population feel as if ICE is not being humane.

Please, remember to turn your windshield wipers on but it is a sunny day!!

Glad you have the replies covered, I don't have the energy today.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 2241

The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.

Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

That is the official church position.
