Anyone else feel like this is the first time in 20 years we’ve had a legitimate coach?

Somehow we have been able to limp along and still have massive success. We don’t even remember what it’s like to have a real coach. It’s going to be amazing.

No. I think Les was a legitimate coach. Perhaps not the best but clearly legitimate lol

Kelly kind of brought some order back after O. But he was just checked out

I would argue the assistant coaches and athletes made him seem legit.

It's refreshing.

I agree with you.

This is the first time we hired someone that is specifically the best at what they do.

For Lane that is offense. Saban was defense.

Watching an offense that plays with tempo/urgency is going to be so refreshing.

I wouldn't put it that way, but yeah this guy is an intellectual deep thinker and that puts him in a distinct category compared to our other hires last 20+ years.

Go rewatch the end of the Tennessee game. Les was one of the worst at managing the last 2:00 of a game.

I really really didn’t like the Kelly hire , but I was convinced that he wins everywhere he goes and we’d have a real coach who will achieve excellence. So I bought in.

Well that didn't happen although year 1 showed promise. Jayden basically won that Heisman on his own and making miraculous plays on busted play calls. Coaching deserves next to no credit for Jayden’s success.

This is first time I’ve been truly excited and have super high expectations. I want and expect to see a lot of points on the score board. We all do.

Feels like the timing worked out even though came at painful time for Lane

The other thing is when watching Lane coach a game, it actually looks and feels he is coaching within the game.

The past coaches LSU has had it has seemed like they just let the game play out.

A smart, high football IQ HC, who wants to work to win.
The last three had one or two, but not all three.

I noticed this as well. During the Egg bowl he was heavily involved on the tablet.

Every drive it looks like lane is involved and coaching through the flow of the game.

It’s more than just half time adjustments some coaches make. He actively coaches and plans throughout the entire game.

Les was a good coach until the end. BK started off fine, but checked out. As an old guy, I’ve not been as excited about a coach since Saban.

After O, I thought Kelly was going to crush it here. All he ended up doing was crushing my interest in LSU football. LK brought it back.

We got a coach that is from the Saban tree. Carroll too.
